In Granderson's first full season he struck out 174 times in 596 AB or once every 3.4 AB's. This after putting some time in the prior two years.

Jackson, in his first year, is averaging a K every 2.94 AB's after ONLY 22 games and 94 AB's in his very FIRST season. Less than one month. He's teh suck!!!!!!!11111 Whoopdee doo!

Let's not let any facts get in the way of our fanboyism.

Yeah, no one said Jackson sucks. I'm actually a fan of his and I hope he does well. Way to strawman, though. What people are saying is that he has an insanely high BABIP, so high it is unsustainable, he's striking out a lot, and he won't have Granderson's power.

Some people (not you) who are talking about BABIP probably don't understand the concept of BAPIP and how reliable or useful that data is to batters, or how it can be used. I highly doubt it, judging by the context it's being used.

Way to strawman? I presented facts.

You also ignored the fact that Granderson has power which Jackson never showed and the ability to mash RHP, which Jackson never showed. (<.500 SLG% against both LHP/RHP in the minors)

Yes, we know you want him off this team, ignoring facts while trying to take cheap shots at random posters isn't the way to go about it.

Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0

I'd think people talking about BABIP know what it is. A BABIP near .500? Obviously some players can have a very high BABIP for their career - look at Ichiro or that Derek Jeter guy - but they're not close to that. Unless Austin Jackson has the most insanely lucky season maybe ever, a lot less things will drop in for hits throughout the year.

The "he's teh suck" thing was kinda strawman-ish. No one thinks Jackson sucks. Well, someone somewhere probably does, but I haven't heard anyone say it here.

I'm kind of surprised that an A-rod fan would call CC a bust after 5 starts and also regret the A-Jax trade after 20 games. Seems like something an A-rod hater would do.

What does CC have to do with this? Judging by your posts, humor and interaction, I thought you were above this, even though you do obviously belong to this somewhat odd clique here.

Quite honestly, I think it's kind of sad that some of you keep spreadsheets on members and pull out year old posts (like your buddy). Just what is the average age of this NYYFans clique you belong?

Anyway, expressing disappointment in a Yankee (CC at the time, which I think was well-deserved) labels and marks someone for life here, and he cannot ever express happiness over that player's success? Or change a preson's mind and say that he's glad that CC (or whomever) is a Yankee?

Johnny Damon hit a walk off home run today, his first homer all season.
238 more runs to score 1000.

I'm obviously cherry-picking, but if he doesn't come out for the 9th to try and get the CG when he was obviously tiring (April 29th), he doesn't load the bases and give up a grand slam. Take that disaster out, and his ERA on the season is 2.67. Good for him.

His change-up has been a great pitch thus far.

Re: The Former Yankee Performance Thread v4.0

    In the last 2 years:

    Tyler Clippard:
    8 wins 2 losses, 81.2 IP, 2.09 ERA, 5.0 H/9, 10.4 K/9

    Mariano Rivera:
    3 wins 3 losses, 75.1 IP, 1.55 ERA, 6.1 H/9, 9.7 K/9

Yankees should have never given up Clippard for nothing

    Bruney has been awful-6.00 ERA 15 IP 17 H 10 ER 18 BB 13 K....WHIP of 2.33.

    Clippard has been amazing...0.42 ERA 21.1 IP 10 H 1 ER 11 BB 25 K...WHIP of 0.94. Also has 4 wins
    Hoping Rivera can pitch forever!

Matsui is in a horrific slump lately. When I had the Angels/Mariners game on last night here and there, I saw him swing and miss at totally awful pitches.

Clippard lost yesterday but won today to become the first MLB pitcher to 7 wins. He's on pace to have a record of 33-5. The record for most wins in a season without starting a game is 18.

To clear spots on the roster, the A's optioned pitcher Henry Rodriguez to Sacramento and designated pitcher Edwar Ramirez for assignment.
