Stephen A. Smith might be on his way off the radio dial

It's been an eventful couple of years for Hollis, Queens', own Stephen A. Smith, who has had his TV show axed and no longer writes a column for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Now this: With his contract up, ESPN and Smith are reassessing his role, and according to a person in the industry with knowledge of his situation, that might well include no longer doing his local and national radio shows.
Smith has had a show on ESPN 1050 for three years. In September, the second hour of the show went national.
It appears unlikely Smith will leave ESPN entirely. Under a new deal, he presumably would focus on his TV work as an NBA analyst.
The timing of all this is unclear. Smith signed off his radio show Wednesday by promising to be back Thursday.
ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz would say only this: "We’re in the process of discussing with Stephen A. a number of things related to his roles on our entities."

I used to work for ABC radio (ESPN, Disney, PLJ, WABC77) and the office HATED Stephen A. When they used to pass his jock cards around people used to draw mustaches on him and stuff. He wouldn't say hi to you in the office, very very rude.

wow didn't know it was like that, if that's the case we'll call it karma deserved, a guy I miss being on ESPN and he was very polite as I remembered him was Harold Reynolds, he kept me watching Baseball Tonight and one day a few yrs. ago I was w/ a bunch of friends around Central Park leaving baseball practice we saw Mr. Reynolds and he was w/ a companion we shaked his hand he even asked for our names to give a shout out on the show at night. I left thinking wow ESPN isn't only filled w/ jerks.

FYI, Kellerman has pretty much doubled SAS in numbers in the mid-morning timeslot (which was Steven A's old timeslot before they moved him). I just really hope they replace SAS with someone quality.

I actually like Stephen A's perspective some times. Sports talk radio is filled with the same type of person - middle aged white guys who almost all have the same perspective - just different team affiliations; Stephen A. has a younger, kind of renegade take on sports. What I can't stand is that he sounds borderline illiterate! I live in Queens and it drives me nuts that he even lets people know he was raised there no less educated there! He talks like a buffoon. He is, however, way better than those two absolute useless jerks, Mike and Mike, in the morning. Ugh, Greenie is a babbling sissy who says in 25 words what could be said in 5; Golick is a babbling idiot who should get a refund for his college tuition!

Then when he's wrong about something (like how the Giants would get destroyed in the SB) he never admits to it but plays it off as him trying to stir things up to increase ratings. Obviously when he's right he spends all show saying so and how stupid anyone with the opposite opinion is.
I stopped listening to is show months ago.
