My main concern is XP is old technology and it is going to eventually have to be left behind. At which point you'll need to buy more memory and pay for Vista. If you are in a position to get Vista for the same price with double the memory, you might as well save the money.

Thanks. Perhaps I will check that out when I get home. I am OK with the screen the way it is but my totally-new-to-computers boyfriend thinks it makes my MacBook defective somehow.Originally Posted by BronxBaumer

Danielle, somehow I think I'm misreading your question because the answer I have is way too simple but in the lowest right hand corner of the web page, there is a tiny almost invisible triangle. Click and drag that corner down to stretch the screen.Originally Posted by xenadanielle

Thanks Linda! That was one of the tips I saw in various forums but have not even tried it yet.Originally Posted by yankeebot

I think this is what you really want though.. for Full screen:
Full Screen: How can you make your Safari Browser window quickly expand to fill your full screen? Easy, just drag and drop the link below to your bookmarks bar OR bookmarks folder. Then click on it and the simple JavaScript will expand your browser to fill all available screen real estate. Drag this link to your bookmarks bar/folder* (feel free to edit the name of the bookmark):
javascript:self.moveTo(0,0);self.resizeTo(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight);

What virus protection software do you recommend with a new computer? I was looking at Norton 360 but I read somewhere that it wasn't compatible with Firefox (is that true?). If so, that's a problem for me.

I have yet to use virus software on any of my computers in 10 years I think it is a joke, any way if you have vista defender should be included, NOrton is always good 360 I think is a fancy wrapper for the old norton but easier to use..
Seriously I think the makers of Norton and all those anti virus softwares actually hire people to write them I don't think they are harmful just detected, the only ones you need to worry about are the big worms that threaten corporate offices every so many years.. that is my opinion on that matter..

I don't know jack about photo shop. I want to get an Imac so I can learn how to design a product I am currently importing. Would it be hard for me to learn?
I used to be a symantec user, but I finally got tired of paying them every year for their bloatware. Here's what I use now:Originally Posted by fredgmuggs

That's solid protection for zero cost.
NOTE: Of course, these are Windows products. Both of them are available for XP and Vista.

Personally, I think they all are mediocre. I've tried Norton, McAfee, but Windows Live OneCare actually works the best for me. I know I'll probably get slammed for endorsing an MS product, but I've had the least issues with that one and it's cheap.Originally Posted by fredgmuggs

Anyway, that will save a few bucks I thought I might have to spend.

photoshop is more 2d art, would you like to design the object in 3d, there are some easy to learn 3d modlers out there, if you just want to work on package design then photoshop is the way to go, it is not easy to learn there is a strong learning curve and it is a very powerful software pkg, I have been using it for around 4 years steady now and i am far from a master of it but I have come a long way..Originally Posted by THEBOSS84

Yeah I assume it depends on how you learn I guess, an expert along side will not help, definetly get a good book or some magazines and do the tutorials..

OK I got a new Vista laptop and a wireless router. My old XP machine and the new laptop are both working and online through the router. I can't get the two machines to see eachother though. How do I set up a network so I can get all my songs off the old and onto the new without burning DVDs?
Firewall is off on both machines right now, and the Vista one can ping the XP one but not vice versa. They have corresponding IP addresses so I know thy're on the router.
Set up a work group on all three machines.. viola youll be able to see each one..Originally Posted by RhodyYanksFan

Yeah, that's what I'm asking about. How do you do that? I already have stuff shared on the old, XP machine. How do I set up a workgroup. The one thing I tried, it asked if I want to set up a network disk.Originally Posted by yankswn23

It could happen easily if all of the USB ports were on the same root hub.Originally Posted by Espinosa's Glasses

It could be, my dad had issues not having XP SP 2 installed which provides USB 2.0 updates, best thing to do is to right click my computer go into manage, Device manager, you should see some USB devices prob in yellow, I would right click and uninstall those, let those reinstall with auto finding the drivers and it might fix it, could have been driver got corrupted..Originally Posted by YASS

What is the best and easiest program to use to burn DVDs that I can play on my tv? I have lots of porn that I wanna enjoy while sitting on my couch.

FIRE JETER
Meaning they could all burn out at the same time??Originally Posted by YASS
No, meaning that the hub could be damaged (or poorly connected to the motherboard), disabling the entire USB bus.Originally Posted by Espinosa's Glasses

If you have the DVD and a dvd player, you don't need to make a copy. Just put SB I-XX in your dvd changer and have at it!Originally Posted by Sam18
