2008 NCAA Football Signing Day Thread

Figured Signing day was big enough to warrant its own thread.

Post all news in here if you'd like.

WR Roy Roundtree signs with Michigan.

Wolverines having a huge morning so far.

and Lewis-Moore is a DE who was previously to Texas Tech or A&M and switched to ND.

It was A&M. Is Hunter official yet? Seems like there are conflicting reports?

ND is all signed. Great job by Charlie to maintain the class after this season. Only question left is what Knox does later today.

His dad said today that Pryor was set to commit today and the school of his choice was NOT Ohio State.

Now Pryor is saying Oregon is still in it despite saying that they were out of it this morning

The more he talks, the more I dislike him.

Well hold that smile because his dad also wants to see him play for he who will never die.

And yes, Pryor had a presser to announce that he wasn't announcing.

Johnson, the nation's top cornerback prospect, originally committed to the University of Miami over the summer.
But Johnson changed his mind in December and decommitted.
He later chose LSU over Florida and Florida State in mid-January.

I think Telemaque or one of the other safeties will move to corner. I would have loved to have PJ but he'll probably be attending Miami Dade CC with his grades anyway. I'm more concerned with nabbing Brandon Harris at 1:00.

Sounds like Harris is leaning to UCF.

    http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/co...ry/406103.html

Harris said he still doesn't know where he wants to go but said he plans to reach a decision by Tuesday night.
''It was a nice trip. It was productive. I got a lot of it touring the campus and facility,'' Harris said. ``I know people think I'm crazy, but UCF -- they're in it. People don't see what I see and the experience I had. It was a wonderful time.
``The best part about it was the direction they're headed in with Coach O'Leary. He has a vision and a plan of where he wants the program to go. They just got a new stadium on campus. They're like a college town atmosphere. It's not too close to home, it's not too far from home. It's in the perfect location.''
Shannon, unlike Coker, is doing a great job focusing on the local kids. And getting so many commits from Northwestern High's 'national champions' makes my day!

Huge signing for us. I hope that we can field an O line that will allow him to maximize his talents.

It was a longshot, but I was really hoping Scott would come to Texas...especially after Charles left for the NFL, leaving the RB position wide open. He's got family ties to CU and his mom seemed to play a big role in the final decision. Best of luck to Darrell.

Great news. Other than making sure ND didn't lose anybody, this was the one guy I was interested in today. I try to make it up to Boulder for at least one game a year so it'd be awesome if they could become a top program again.
I have to return some videotapes.

It's disgusting how much damage Coker did to that program and was rewarded for it in the process. God bless Randy Shannon.

And their day isn't over yet. They're the front runners for Jurrell Harris.

Notre Dame is waiting on a 4-star RB, who commits at 6 p.m. I think. If both teams get each player, it will be really close.

Jerrell is probably a more important recruit than Julio for Alabama, actually. Alabama needs linebackers in the worst way.

We're in the mix for him too but I think he'll join Jones at Bama.

Shannon's still cleaning up the mess but man, I can't wait to see this team in 2-3 years.

I'm not a huge Shannon fan but I cannot wait to see Marcus Forston in 2-3 years. That dude is a beat.

Do people in Miami actually think Shannon is a good coach? Because even if he turns out not to be, he's going to leave the next guy with a ton of talent. And if the U would pony up the cash, there's absolutely no reason they couldn't get a top coach.

UM's president is a cheapo and always looking for cash (one of the main reasons they moved out of the Orange Bowl) so I doubt she's going to pay a top coach top dollar.

I'm giving Shannon the benefit of the doubt for now. I like his spirit and discipline which was missing during the Coker years plus he's from south Florida and bleeds UM green and orange. Yeah, that doesn't translate to wins but it's a breath of fresh air. He knows recruiting local kids made the program during the 80s and 90s and he's doing a great job selling the program in Miami.

Co-sign. I'm not 100% sold on Shannon as an in-game coach just yet but his defenses were always solid and we now know that the man can recruit, which is huge in college football. He pulled in a very solid DC in Bill Young this offseason. IMO, the only questionmark moving forward will be whether or not to replace Nix as offensive coordinator. Most importantly, he's not Larry Coker.
