Okay, here's one to kick around for a bit until the 'official' rule discussion period.
Disclaimer: This has nothing personally to do with Randi or Sax!!!!
Okay, this is a two-parter.
First, I don't like the precedent we set with the Naughty Swingers last year. If you remember, Sax had his own team and invited Randi to become co-owner with him. What I don't like about this is that it circumvents our new owner waiting list and allows an existing owner to essentially hand pick his or her successor. Sax (you know I love you Sax) was almost non-existent last year and Randi (you know I love you Randi) pretty much got back in the league without having to wait like the rest of the shmucks who are on the outside looking in.
Second, what do we do if Sax doen't re-up? Does Randi inherit the team, or does the team go to an owner on the waiting list? And even if Sax does re-up, what if it's like last year and he's only here long enough to say "I'm in" and lets Randi run the team all season again?
So...here's what I'm proposing. A new team can have have a max of two owners and if one of those owners drops out the remaining owner gets the team (pretty obvious, I think). An existing team may bring on a co-owner, but under the following conditions -
1) The co-owner gets one year only. This allows for things like going to Africa for two months, health problems, traumatic life-changing events, etc. Bring someone on so you don't lose your team, but if by the next season you still can't devote enough time to the league you gotta let go.
2) The co-owner isn't actually an owner at all, but more of a co-GM. After the one season the co-owner does not inherit the team but rather has to go to the waiting list, with credit for the season played. For instance, you co-GM this year and next year you sign up on the waiting list. Your co-GM year counts as a year on the waiting list, so you automatically get bumped to the 2 year list.
