    Milk: What's your pioson?

Simple poll: what milk do you drink? Gone are the days when I drank only whole milk. I wish they could replicate that taste.

Milk is a condiment, not a beverage. It is for putting on cereal, not for drinking.

Totally agree. It is only used for softening my cereal and for coffee that is it. For those purposes I use 2 or 1%.

What about adding milk to hot chocolate? How about milk and cocoa? Adding milk to a yogurt smoothie?

In that case, what is your beverage of choice, since milk is not considered a beverage to you?

Skim. Once you get used to it, there's no sense going back. Besides, all that milkfat isn't helping you any.

I drink 2 or 1 percent. I voted 2 since I think I get that more, but 1 is just as good.

By the way, you forgot Lactaid type milks on this list.

I use Skim Plus. It's more expensive than standard skim milk since it's ultrapasteurized.

Sometimes I treat myself to organic whole milk.

Count me in here... I can't stand the crap, unless it's flavored (strawberry, chocoloate...), but at that point, I may as well just get a shake.

I consider an exclamation of fabulous towards milk to be an expression of excitement. Perhaps you're just a little freer with your fabulouses.

I'll throw fat free half and half into the mix.... that's what goes into the coffee and also used as substitute in recipes for cream based sauces. It's FABULOUS product (there, I said it).

The best thing I've ever put into coffee was something called "light cream". I figured it tasted great, that it certainly wasn't heavy cream, so after I'd bought some (hard to find).

I think that the next time I'm making capuccino, I'll use this instead of half-and-half.

For regular milk, I just drink Lactaid and mix that with one of the skim milks. I just avoid the Lactaid whole milk or the calcium added ones. Those didn't work for me.

I've been drinking skim for so long, I can't drink a glass of anything else -- it tastes way too heavy. Although, in coffee when I do drink it, I use half and half.

I'm actually a +3 allergy to milk so I shouldn't even be drinking too much of it anyway but I can only do soy milk in a protein shake..I don't know how anyone drinks that..blech!

I don't drink milk---I only use it in cereal and when I do it is skim milk. Since the cereal flavors the milk, I don't think that it makes much of a difference so I might as well use the most low fat.

When I was growing up and was forced to drink milk by my parents, we always drank 2%.

What is the difference between 1% and 2%? I can't think of anything offhand.

Is regular milk something like 5% or 10% fat? Is 1% a low-fat version of whole milk? What about 2% milk?

This is how I think about it- if you look on the side of the carton, whole milk has 8 grams of fat per serving, 2 percent milk has 5 g of fat per serving, and 1 percent milk has 2.5 g of fat per serving. You know you study the carton when you are eating cereal-- its entertaining And you feel like you are being healthy and productive

So doing the proportions, whole milk is about 3.2% fat (by mass), not quite 5 or 10%. So 2 percent milk is actually a 40% or so reduction in fat from whole milk, and 1 percent milk is actually a 70% reduction in fat. So going from whole milk to 1 percent takes away 70% of the fat, you can EASILY taste it

When I drink it by itself I just want 2%. However, for mochas and anything else that's mixed I want non-fat.

I'm your evil twin from a parallel universe!

If I'm drinking milk straight, it has to be skim. If it's in coffee or tea, I prefer 1% or 2%.

Beat me to it. That would be my #1 choice.

I don't drink milk unless it's with cookies, but in cereal or anything else I use skim (also skim with cookies). When I was a kid, my mom hated that I disliked milk so much. Now I also like Fat Free Plus. I can drink 1%, but 2% or especially whole is so "thick" that it grosses me out. Ick.
