    The Empire Strikes Back?

I know that 2008 is a while away but I think next year's theme should be The Empires Strikes Back with Steinbrenner as the evil emperor

Motto's are lame. The Met's have 1000 motto's and look what it gets them, NOTHING.

Remember the Yankees are supposed to be the classy organization, not like these guys...

Um, wasn't this already used in 2005?

    Re: The Empire Strikes Back?

Yea, 2005 was "The Empire Strikes back" with the addition of Randy Johnson after the 2004 embarrassment. That didn't quite work out.

    Re: The Empire Strikes Back?

yup, sadly unless the nest few years take a turn, this decade will be in favor of the sox and that sucks.

But at least seeing them win this time is much easier, and at least the AL is destroying the nl.

I wish people took more pride in making the playoffs for 12 straight years, that is impressive, and to me much harder then winning a WS here and there. The yankees are consistant, not just like here and there.

I enjoy being a fan because the yanks play meaningful games and entertain me on a yearly basis, and in the end, that is all i want.

Can anyone say that this past few years have not been a blast. At least the season means something now.

Is it? All I know is we started 1-5 against the Sox this year with our rotation in shambles and finished 9-3 against them and 6-0 vs the Indians. A combined 15-3 against the 2 ALCS teams when our team was intact. This was our year. 2004 was our year. 2003 was our year.

I think that, for Hal Steinbrenner or Hank Steinbrenner or whichever H. Steinbrenner said it, the 2008 Yankees' motto should be:

"Please have patience while the Empire attempts to gather and cultivate the necessary tools to attempt to strike back sometime in the near future . . . thank you."

don't think for a second that i doubt that the yanks should have and could have won everyone of these years,

just that with boston already winning in 2004, this year isn't as bad.

The yanks have been the better team many years, and it sucks they lost, but that is a short series.

It seems the yanks have stopped getting breaks, or simply luck recently. Things went our way on the 90's this decase the ball breaks differently.

My motto is just win something and fly the 27th banner next year - period, end of sentence. Motto, shmotto. How about another World Championship? That's all the motto I need! I'll wait to create my motto after another parade.

I think the Devil Rays had a winning record against us in 2003...was that THEIR year??

    Agreed.

And if you want a motto or theme, how about this:

Unfortunately 2008 will be "Girardi makes us drink Bacardi".

I was one of the pessimists this year. Didn't think we could go all the way.

The offseason did not get off to a good start. I'm really not too optimistic right now,
but I do reserve the right to change my mind

I'm pretty sure the motto we will here Kay say a million times in 2008 is "The Final Season." I think I've already seen it advertised.

This is actually quite reminiscent of the first two decades of the twentieth century!

    Re: The Empire Strikes Back?

The lamest motto ever was "why not us"... like a bunch of girl scouts trying to win the cookie selling championship of the world.

The Yankee Players and Management need to put a "TEAM" together and stop playing games... hard stances on managements' part and "well if they want to treat it like a business" etc... filing for free agency.

I think we are heading back to the 80's....
Peter Gammons drinks Boston toilet water thereby causing him to talk sh*t from time to time... Schilling has obviously given up his Sam Adams for it. f**k boston.
