Its a 50/50 proposition that Jackson starts '08 in Scranton or Trenton. I doubt that he struggles terribly at either place. If the Yankees suffer a key injury to an outfielder in '08 or if players get off to weak starts like they did in '07 I wouldn't be surprised to see Jackson called up at that point.

The Yankees did put Jackson in left for at least a couple of games late in '07 possibly as a precursor to that role if he gets called up to the big club in '08. Still I am not sold on the value of having Melky Cabrera patrolling any outfield position for the New York Yankees with his decidely mediocre CR+. Jackson projects as a much better overall offensive contributor than does Cabrera. And, Jackson has been getting much better at centerfield.
Tabata's response to his season ending surgery is key. Tabata could explode in '08 where he couldn't due to that wrist issue earlier. We'll have to wait and see. Still Tabata is young, he is a year and a half younger than Jackson. Both are young and extremely talented, and if all goes well with both of them, they will make some of the current outfield incumbents good trade-bait for the Yankees.
