A Friendly Reminder - Make Sure That You Have A Working Email Address On File

People change email addresses all the time for a variety of reasons.

Please take the time to check the email address that you have on file to make sure that it is current and functional. We really need a way to contact members from time to time, and failure to keep a functional email on file leads to a member being banned until we are contacted with a current, working address.

This can cause unnecessary stress, drama, aggravation, and work for everybody involved. In the words of Guiseppe Franco, "Who has the time for that nonsense?"

To check your address, go to "User CP". Click "Edit Email and Password" from the menu in the column on the left.

The last time I changed my email address, it took a week to reactivate my account.

Interesting. In my experience when I changed my email address last year the process took less than 1/2 an hour before I was activated again.

Perhaps Jim and Deb were on vacation that week.

Thanks for the reminder. Luckily, I didn't need to change it. Have had problems with other sites in the past when email has changed.

Jim, can you unblock gmail.com from the list of "abusive" email addresses? I'd like to keep that address forever and its too popular to ignore at this point.

I dont think that the idea was to ignore them because they're not popular.

The point is that 1 guy can set up 50 accounts on gmail very easily, and create different accounts here. You ban one, and he can just make a new email and do it again.

You have an ISP, somewhere, somehow. It's not gmail... so why not use the email address from your ISP?

I believe the point is not to only allow the popular emails. I am pretty sure you can only have school or work emails (and possibly ones that you had to pay for).

Re: A Friendly Reminder - Make Sure That You Have A Working Email Address On File

I used to have an ISP-provided email address, which can be used to verify someone's identity. However, my current gmail address isn't accepted, so I can't change to this.

    Suggestions?
