The Cove (documentary on dolphin slaughter in Japan) was excellent. On par with Dear Zachary in terms of cringe worthy.

Absolutely excellent. I was glued to the t.v. when I watched it. Blood Dolphins: A return to the Cove is the follow up.Originally Posted by teknetic

It's a decent enough movie. Not what it was described as, but good enough to watch. Liked it, didn't love it.Originally Posted by Hitman23

Anyone see The Final? Kinda creepy revenge flick about bullied kids setting up classmates & torturing them in horror movie fashion
Decent premise, but the entire last 25 minutes was just terrible.

Yeah I fast forwarded the last half hour or so but it was alright. Not bad for a netflix rental.
If a Netflix film isn't available for streaming, I just use quicksilverscreen/icefilms.

Last time I used a site like that, it got shut down & said something about the government wanting every users IP addresses or some sh*t. Whether that was a scare tactic or not, it sure as hell worked on me![]()
Indy IV - almost on par with Rocky V for not existing anymore. The opening scene was awesome, and I knew that there would be an Ark cameo.
The action scenes were pretty cool, but overall it just felt forced. Also, Indy in the jungle can't compare to Indy in the Middle East.
George Lucas just sucks. No other way to put it.
What's everyones thoughts on Amanda Seyfried? I'm a fan.

Thinking more about Indy IV and it's even worse than I thought. Even if it didn't have the fridge incident (which apparantly "nuking the fridge" is the new "jumping the shark"), it still wasn't very original. Indy once again gets involved in the main plot due to someone he knows being kidnapped trying to find the same thing (like in Crusade). Also, his colleague turns out to be working for the bad guys (like in Raiders).
There's so many stories that can be done with that character. So many historical relics. Why the hell they chose Aztec aliens is beyond me - especially when the movie was made after the success of something like The DaVinci Code which brought Vatican history back to the forefront of society.

Just watched "The Machinist" and I know alot of people rave about it. But I actually thought that it kind of sucked.
I think what I didn't like most about it was the background music straight out of a 1930's horror movie.

I have to say I am really looking forward to "The Town". I may see it this weekend. I'm no fan of Ben Affleck but I'm going to give him a chance to change my mind. This role looks promising.

Based on an excellent book "Prince of Thieves" which is worth reading before/after seeing The Town.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, he co-wrote the screenplay, acted, and directed it. Apparently, when he met with Jeremy Renner, Renner asked him how he planned to juggle everything. Affleck said, "I have no idea" and Renner signed up on the spot.Originally Posted by NYDCYankee

I saw Resident Evil: Afterlife this evening. I really liked it but there was too much Matrix type slow motion which annoys me after a while. I saw it in 3D because I didn't want to wait another hour to see the regular version. There were only two other people in the theater besides me. I usually like an empty theater because people can be loud and annoying when I'm trying to watch a movie, but the empty theater was a little creepy because of the type of movie I was watching. ;0) I thought it was worth the money.

Sweet. I really can't wait to see that movie. I've been seeing a lot of that Matrix slow-mo stuff in movies for a few years. Doesn't really bother me anymore, it seems it's become it's own genre.Originally Posted by AMC

"The Road" came in from Netflix last night. Gonna try to watch it tonight. I think it was critically acclaimed but either did nothing in theaters or was in real limited release.
I read the book and didn't love it as much as others. Don't know how it won a Pulitzer.
I don't believe any movie can capture the hopelessness of the novel. I was really and truly depressed while reading the novel, I don't think I want to go through that again.Originally Posted by RhodyYanksFan

The most depressing POS I've ever seen, turned it off after 30 minutes because it wasn't going anywhere. One can only take so much of Viggo's raspy voice talking about how much life sucks for so long.Originally Posted by RhodyYanksFan

That was one of those books I always meant to pick up when I went to Borders but just never did because it got bumped for something. That and "World War Z".

The Road was an OK novel, but the movie was nowhere near as good as the book. The McCarthy book I'd like to see turned into a movie is Blood Meridian, but they'd probably botch that too.Originally Posted by Hitman23

Saw "Let The Right One In", the movie that they based "Let Me In" (2010) on.
It was interesting, a little creepy, a little disgusting, but entertaining.
