Not a fan of horror movies, but The Mist is superb. I never read the story, but it was very very good.
Its only saving grace was the fact that it was in 3D. That was cool.Originally Posted by chanman7483

I just watched Live Free or Die Hard. Despite being over the top in every way, it kicked ass... hard.

I saw The Golden Compass at an early sneak.
Having read the book(s), I thought that the movie cut out nearly all the moral dilemmas. It jumped from action sequence to action sequence without giving the characters any chance to develop. And if I hadn't read the book, I'd have been so confused. There was no way to know what was going on unless you read the book. The polar bear fight was a let-down, too.

I watched David Lynch's "Inland Empire" the other night. I know Lynch movies are weird and disjointed, but this one was a bit much even for Lynchophiles. It was shot digitally. It's about 3 hours long. Laura Dern was fantastic, but she scared the crap out of me in several scenes. I really don't know whether I like it or hate it, but I know I have to see it again. Lynch films are like sophisticated puzzles. You either get bored fairly quickly and give up, or you get sucked in. The DVD package includes an interesting bonus disc. I think Lynch is an artistic genius, who is also a bit insane.

It's "Bruce Willis Weekend" here. Watched "Live Free or Die Hard". I forgot I much I love John McClane. I hope Bruce Willis does another McClane movie. He can still take a punch! I'd love to know how many times he's been shot at in the Die Hard movies.
Also watched "Perfect Stranger" which I believe got horrible reviews but I didn't think it was too bad. It certainly had it's moments.

We saw August Rush the other night. The hubby and I both liked it a lot. It's like an Irish fairy tale set in NY. Do NOT expect anything realistic. But it's very sweet.
No Country For Old Men was very good. A little slow at some points but it was worth it.

What was your take on the sheriff not getting killed in the hotel room? We couldn't agree if Sugar (sp?) wasn't in the room any longer or if it just went against his code to kill the sheriff at that point, because he had the money.Originally Posted by S2

Tough to say. He had no problem killing other innocent people. I think he was still in the room (behind the door) but maybe just didn't want to kill him? He could have easily killed him and gotten away.Originally Posted by SalingerNY

For those who've seen No Country, there's some pretty interesting (and insightful, IMO) analysis of the movie in the comments of this review:

Some kids at school were tellin me that Will Smith leaked the I am Legend ending and now he's gonna get sued and some crap. Any truth do this?
They said it was different from the books ending, meaning he survives, and that there are plans for a sequel.

I just saw Bender's Big Score. As a fan of both the Simpsons and Futurama, I thought this was much better than the Simpsons movie. They actually made reference to previous Futurama episodes (especially the very well known ones), something I was hoping the Simpsons movie would do more extensively.
Also, it's pretty damn funny and an interesting story. I really hope they bring it back in these movies, if not actually bring back the show.

I want to see Atonement. I read the book and can't wait to see the movie. I think it comes out tomorrow.
I saw a preview on tv today for a movie called The Bucket List with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. It looks really good. Anyone else see the commercial? It's coming out Christmas Day I think.

ME TOO. I didn't read the book, though. Definitely not going to get Mr. LDG to go to that one, even with the backdrop of war. (He's very anti-chick flick.)Originally Posted by 4bronxbombers
