When does MLB announce the game times for the Division Series?

In past years, the full schedule and game times were always released by Sunday night. Yet all the times are still TBD on MLB.com. Whats the deal with this? Are they waiting till after the SD/Colorado game finishes? I dont see how that would make a difference though. We know whoever wins will be playing Game 1 in Philly on Wednesday.

Anyone have any idea when MLB will announce the game times? If there are any Yankee afternoon games....I need as much advance notice as possible so I can figure out ways to leave work early

My guess is MLB is waiting until after the WC playoff game tonight to announce the game times.

I think in Olney's chat this morning, he is saying playoff times will become available by 4pm Eastern time today.....

But that doesn't make sense because we know that no mater which team wins tonight -- they play Philly in Philly on Wed.

They should be able to set this now. They need to think about the fans trying to go to these games and even the fans trying to get off work or tell the wife: no nookie tonight, it's the playoffs.

I wish they would set it now too...if i get tickets for game 4 (if there is one ) I need to know if I need the day off or can leave early..i'm hoping for game 3 tickets anyway...

I heard them talking about it on Mike and Mike and I thought they said MLB would announce no earlier than noon today..and that they were deciding who to give prime time coverage to -- they were guessing it would go to the cubs over the Red Sox...

I wouldn't mind if the Yanks got a 4pm start at some point. 8pm games don't really start until 8:30....and are over at midnight.

Unfortunately after watching nearly every single game this season either in person or live, I am going to be on an airplane heading from Newark towards Texas on Thursday night. Even my connection in Dallas will be too short to grab a drink and check the television screen before heading to Austin.

I am praying that the Thursday game is an afternoon. The Devils open their season that night and I don't want to miss it. I mean if I have to I will skip the hockey for the playoff baseball but it will bring back the bad memory of having to skip the Devils 2003 banner raising (although it worked out because the Yankees beat Boston that year). I know I could always tape one but I just have this thing that I can't watch sports events after they have already happened, just takes the fun out of the moment of the game.

Why? That's not news. I reported that in the TBS Division Series thread almost 5 days ago.

Looks like they have to do some rearranging if Colorado is in because of their wacky timezone. I thought it would be the Yanks on Sunday night, but with having 2 west coast teams playing on their zone on that day, the only thing you could really do is put the Yanks at 4pm.

We'll manage.

That's true, but the Chargers and Broncos play each other sunday at 4PM eastern. They're not going to schedule either of those cities for a home game at 1PM eastern, and I doubt they want to go up against football, so that series will probably get the 8PM game, even though the game might not be needed.

Fox always treats us with respect and always slots us in the primetime 8PM slot ... but it looks like TBS will cater to Cubs and Red Sox nation.

They have. Actually pretty certain the Mets played an 11 pm game on a weekend night a bunch of years back.

It's terrible when you have an east coast team involved, though.

Back in 1999 they did it to the Mets in their openning round at Arizona. It's been done before.

Not really. This year more than others, football plays a big role in this. The reason the Cubs arent playing later than 1pm is because of the Bears-Packers game at night. They are not putting the Yanks on at 1pm because of the Giants-Jets game.The Rockies wouldnt play at 3 because of the Broncos playing at home next week with the Chargers. And that's probably the reason they dont want to give the Padres at 4PM EST start as well for next Sunday because of the Chargers. At worst, they dont want to have the football team competing with the baseball team because you lose ratings with the audience split.

I didnt realize all of those possibilites until just now (especially with SD and COL) and so those have to be taken into account.

Boston vs. Oakland I believe back in 2003. I remember staying up until 2 am Central before giving way to sleep. I couldnt take anymore.

Why are they having a one-game playoff for the wild card spot at the same time as Monday Night Football? They should have held this game Tuesday night, where there's absolutely nothing going on in sports. The Pads-Rox game tonight will go low ratings because of the Patriots-Bengals.

Completely disagree with just about everyone on this thread. For once, MLB is getting this right, wish people would see that as a sport, its more important than young kids get to see innings 7, 8, 9, than working adults getting to see innings 1,2, and 3.

I tend to agree. At least we won't be watching til 1 am (well, knowing the yanks there will be some EI affairs, but still!).

I agree. It's frustrating the games start when I'll be at work (particularly friday), but it's great to have the games when kids can watch them. And it's just common sense to put series with west coast teams on in the later time slots.

To be selfish...I am so psyched about these game times. I was thinking the whole postseason would be 8PM and later time slots...since I moved to the U.K. a couple weeks ago, that would mean 1 AM or later for me. At least I can try to watch most of division series games now!

So what's the deal with cutting into/away from games. They're all on TBS, correct? So when an early game goes 12 innings, the next game on tap is just not televised?

i'm just glad we don't have any early afternoon games where it feels like a makeup game. i think the scheudle is fine.
