Via Abraham: A bullpen move will be made for 8/28

In his blog today, his source is pretty credible.

Torre said [t]here would a move in the bullpen tomorrow. You have to think Sean Henn is out. No idea who will be back but I pray it’s Chris Britton so people will stop e-mailing me.
    http://yankees.lohudblogs.com/

If Henn is out, we have no lefty or Ortiz. As much as I would like to see Britton, I have a feeling it's going to be Karstens because he could be a long man where Britton is just an inning or two.
Edwar might also be sent down. Hopefully Britton is up though.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't Britton this time.

Yeah, that is interesting. One would think Henn would be sent down, but then we would have no lefties. Maybe Igawa for the bullpen? He's the only other lefty in the system I can think of that could possibly be called up. Other than that, I guess it would be Britton or Karstens for Edwar. We'll just have to wait and see.

We'll just have to roll the dice with small sample size success and use Farnsworth (0-for-6, 3 BB, 4 K).

Yea they could def use someone to serve as a long man so Karstens may be the guy who comes up, but he didn't get the job done as a long man a few months ago or as a starter so I'm not sure.

He didn't do particularly well tonight. He seems to be rather homer-prone. Perhaps his fastball needs some more work.

he was going against Polanco a tough out and not a shabby hitter at that, you want to see Jeff Karstens take his place atleast Edwar can get some outs.

I don't think Betemit can pitch but with what the Yankees have in the bullpen right now with the exception of Mo, Joba, Viz, Farnsworth, maybe Betemit should learn how to pitch.

There are no better options in AAA. Britton up for Henn. There isnt anyone else.

I would like to see Britton have a chance to prove what he can do at the Major League level. Hopefully this means the end of Henn...forever.

Re: Via Abraham: A bullpen move will be made for 8/28

Henn has to go. Having a lefty to face Ortiz is inconsequential when the only option is Henn or Igawa for that matter. If Henn is kept on this roster because he is a lefty it is just for show to say there is a lefty in the bullpen. I don't even think Torre is stupid enough to match up Henn against Ortiz in a big spot if he still is on the team, which hopefully he won't be.

If they are interested in having a lefty in the bullpen, I am available. I am a lefty.

Also, getting to Brian Cashman, why can't he find any kind of a decent lefty reliever anyplace to match up against lefty batters. We haven't had anybody since Mike Stanton and we have gone through about nine million lefty relievers since then, most of them very forgettable. We have gone through the Randy Choate's, Wayne Franklins and Jesse Oroscos among many others in recent years. Even the Tigers have two lefties in Seay and Byrdak who are better than anybody the Yankees have had in recent years. They aren't great pitchers but they serve a role. Cashman has failed us bigtime especially with regards to pitching and this is just another example.

Why are we even spec'ing Edwar?

This HAS to be Henn going. LH or not, he can't get anyone out.

Torre said something about Henn having alot on his mind since his wife is pregnant and its their first kid. I'm happy for Henn and all but I would be even more happy if he was able to celebrate his child's birth as a part of SWB roster. I'm sick and tired of his crappy pitching.

Well, we can ease his mind by sending him back to AAA, where he won't have to worry about the stresses of the bigs.

I find it hard to believe his wife has been pregnant for two+ years now. Anyhow..how exactly does the birth of your child affect your pitching ability, this badly? Andy Phillip's case was more reasonable..

Has to be Henn he threw a ton of pitches tonight. More than Moose I think. It would basically put him out of commission until Sept 1 anyway.

Never want to see Henn or Mussina again. Send 'em both packing. Mussina can be DFR'd, that stands for Designated For Retirement. And I'm sure a big strapping young man like Sean Henn can find work elsewhere in life.
Congrats are in order to the 2009 WS Champion Yankees. Let's keep it going!

I'd rather see a bullpen with all quality arms no matter which arm the pitchers throw with.

Also, Edwar Ramirez can and should be used as a lefty specialist: that changeup against left-handed hitters is better than anything that most LH lefty specialists have.
Congratulations Mike Mussina on your 20th win!

Maybe there could be something with the pregnancy that is worrying Henn, that only the coaches on the team know about. It still should not affect the way that one pitches. He has not been good now in his last three outings, losing two games - one in Anaheim and the Tigers, and not keeping this game somewhat close.

I know with Verlander throwing a shutout, the Yankees couldn't get anything started but who knows what would have happened if Mussina could have kept the Yankees in the game to begin with....

Sean Henn, still being carried despite giving up eight runs in his previous two appearances, was left in to give up nine runs -- seven earned -- and throw 79 pitches Monday in the blowout against the Tigers.
Pretty disgusting of Joe Torre, if you ask us. Henn clearly had nothing left in his third inning of work, and if Torre was so against going to one of his four quality relievers, he should have turned to a position player. Henn will gone Tuesday, we're sure. Chris Britton, who should have been up long ago, could be the choice to replace him

Someone needs to inform the rotoworld clowns of the term "taking one for the team." On the other hand..it's rather sad it took this many meltdowns for Britton to get a chance. We practically wasted his services for a whole year.

The funny thing is that Britton got a chance earlier this year and pitched really well in those 5 innings... Then he was sent back down and never heard from again.

Havent we seen enough of these scrubs like Henn and Karstens?? What in the hell has Chris Britton done to not get a chance?

Did he run over Torre's dog? spike the punch at a Cashman family party? Sleep with Torre's wife? Pour sugar in the gas tank of Cashman's car??

I'd honestly just rather take the field with 24 men if the 25th is going to be Henn or Karstens at this point.

When was the last time Karstens pitched? Dare I hope tonight, so he won't be available for tomorrow's game, lessening the chances of him getting the call?

Edit: Damn it, he hasn't pitched in days. He'll be fresh.

Having no lefty in the bullpen probably won't be much of a factor in this particular series. In general, I think the Yankees need a lefty, but in this particular case, the lack of a situational lefty to face Ortiz is balanced by the fact that J.D. Drew is marginally less likely to sit on the bench.
