    Just give it to the Kiwis and have done!! France, playing on home soil, will be dangerous, but you would have to be a half-wit to look beyond the men from New Zealand!!

    Re: 2007 Rugby World Cup

    New Zealand is coming in as the pre-tournament favorite.

    France is looking to build on their Top 4 place finish in 2003.

    Will Australia go on a mission to win their 3rd Rugby World Cup title here in France? The Aussies won two Rugby World Cup titles in 1991 and 1999 and narrowly losing in their home final to England in the last tournament.

    I'm impressed! A woman (I hope!!) of discernment!! Yes, he's a nice lad, is Dan, and a fine rugby player. I am afraid I'll have to dip out the discussion about the "Calvin Klein" undies ads, though, because (a) I haven't seen them; and (b) I don't "lean" that way!!

    I love watching rugby and he's an awesome player. It certainly helps that he's smokin' hot too.

    I'll refrain from posting his undie pics then.....

    How unfortunate for you! To be fair, though, I reckon the Welsh team is better than its English counterpart! (Not that you would have to be very good to be better than England.)

    Huge shocker in Day 1 of the 2007 IRB Rugby World Cup.

    Los Pumas from Argentina shocked host country France 17-12.

    Ignacio Corleto scored the only try of the match. A devastating dent to France's World Cup hopes.

    Argentina are never a team to be taken lightly, but I don't think many of us saw that result coming!

    In today's action, The All Blacks were 38-0 up on Italy before the Italians realised where they where!! A crushing defeat for the European team, who I expected to give the Kiwis a bruising encounter. Similar type stroll for Australia in their game, whilst England, a.k.a. "Dad's Army", are currently making very hard work of disposing of the U.S.A.

    I also didn't see the result coming either. Huge setback for the French.

    Meanwhile, the Aussies pulverized Japan 91-3.

    Re: 2007 Rugby World Cup

    The South Africa/Samoa game was really feisty - some very big good hits on both sides - for the first 50 minutes until the South Sea Islanders ran out of gas! Crucial decision by the referee not to award the Samoans a try at the start of the second half, which might have evened up the score at that stage. South Africa's superior skill and fitness then ground the Samoans down and the Springboks ran out easy winners. South Africa are an excellent team and should not be discounted from possibly winning the tournament.

    This was a disgraceful performance by England and merely reinforced the average fan's fears of how much the team has regressed since those heady days of winning the trophy in 2003. Take nothing away from South Africa, because they were faultless, but England were just plain woeful and never threatened to compete in any aspect of the game. Bugger trying the beat Somoa next week, just bring the bunch of losers and the "management staff" home!

    They should have the "Mercy Rule" for games like this - it was men against boys! Credit to the Portuguese, though, because they stayed competitive for the first 20 minutes until the All Blacks (who fielded a second string XV) decided to up the tempo. The game did become a bit laughable in the second half because the poor Portuguese were so knackered that the All Blacks more or less scored at will.

    Ther ever-growing chasm between the northern and southern hemisphere nations was also illustrated by Australia's fluent win over a plucky Welsh team in Cardiff. The Welsh scored a few late points but this was a game that the Aussies were always in control.

    Improved performance by England yesterday, although it has to said that they are still a million miles away from the likes of New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. The All Blacks were as careless as hell against Scotland at Murrayfield this afternoon but still stuck 40 unanswered points on the scoreboard.

    Versus channel is carrying the All-Blacks vs Scotland at 5PM. All right..sometimes there is something on the 300 channels. Make sure they show the haka!

    Hope you enjoy the match. It was too one-sided (Scotland are worse than England!) to be called a "match", but some nice finishing by the likes of Doug Howlett, Dan Carter and Ali Williams.

    Bonus points, contributing to a team's cumulative match-point score, are awarded in each of the following instances (one match point for each event):

    a team scores four or more tries (regardless of the match result);
    a team loses by seven points (a converted try) or fewer.
    At the end of the pool stage, teams will be ranked from first to fifth based on cumulative match points, with the top two nations proceeding to the quarter-finals.

    If at the completion of the pool phase two or more Teams are level on Match points, then the following criteria shall be used in the following order until one of the Teams can be determined as the higher ranked:

    i. The winner of the Match in which the two tied Teams have played each other shall be the higher ranked;
    ii. The Team which has the best difference between points scored for and points scored against in all its pool Matches shall be the higher ranked;
    iii. The Team which has the best difference between tries scored for and tries scored against in all its pool Matches shall be the higher ranked;
    iv. The Team which has scored most points in all its pool Matches shall be the higher ranked;
    v. The Team which has scored most tries in all its pool Matches shall be the higher ranked;
    vi. Should the tie be unresolved at the conclusion of steps (i) through (v), the Team that is higher ranked in the updated Official IRB World Rankings on October 1, 2007.
    By elevating head-to-head results (rule i) above points difference (rule ii), a notable difference is created to other sports competitions, in which points difference usually determines rank for teams with the same number of match points (table points). These rules allowed the winners of Pools A, B and C to be determined by the results of the third pool matches on the weekend of September 22 and 23. Although other teams could theoretically draw level on table points with South Africa, Australia and New Zealand and exceed their points differences at the end of the pool stages, head-to-head results by that time ensured these teams could be declared winners of their respective pools, with a match to spare. This also illustrates the fact that the pool tables do not tell the whole story.

    South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand punched their ticket to the Knockout Stages. Who will join them?

    It could be that Australia may well have to overcome the mighty England to get to the semi-final stages!!
