Because I hate going to forums where everyone has the really ugly, flashing, animated avatars. It completely distracts from the subject at hand and looks bush league. Forcing users to wait a little while before getting their own has helped in that regard.

above the avatars are small NY logos with a name such as "forum regular" etc. they change as we go past various posting numbers. i've just become a NYYF MVP with 6 mini logos.

how come some of you noble gents and ladies do not have any NY logos?

is it because you've racked up so much service time you then allowed to choose your own avatar etc?

Yes...we can always put them back if we'd like....but we like to show our creativity(oh and to rub it in everyone else's face that we actually can do it )

Wow...I was never aware of the option to pay for this. I thought I had to have a certain number of posts before I could get an avatar. Once I pay, how do I create an avatar? Do I have to upload photos or can I find photos I like on the internet?

Oh Johnny....you never knew that?!

Yup, you can upload them or find photos from the internet. You just have to shrink them (I use Photobucket usually) so they fit. PM me if you need any help.

ORRRRrrr you can just shrink it on photoshop and then upload it onto imageshack. This way your pic won't look like a two year old's drawing.

Or if you don't have photoshop you can use snipshot.com. It's easy and also won't turn your pic into a two year old's drawing when you resize it.
