    The Video Game Thread

Did a search, while there are a few threads about particular games, nothing for just a general discussion about anything.

I'm playign the Godfather for Wii, anyone else play this? It's a great game, not one I thought I would enjoy this much.

Whenever I have time for videogames (rarely), it's still Tiger Woods 2004 for me. Either that or Final Fantasy 7 again. Who needs $500 systems? Although GTAIV might change my mind.

Thats my thinking as well. I've bought two video games in the past year, Zelda Twilight Princess and Godfather. After looking everywhere for a Wii, I got one at work for free.
I've never played a GTA, but from what I've seen of them, Godfather is played the exact same way

The games I've been playing a lot have been Spider-Man 3 and MLB2K7. I've favored MLB2K7 more because I can have the Yankees win a lot in it.

Do you have to use the nunchuk for Godfather? ... this whole 2-handed remote thing is intimidating to me.

Just got the Wii a week ago and really enjoy Tiger and Wii Sports... Don't know how non-sports games will play out on it, though.

Yeah you use the nunhuk. It's really easy actually. Zelda and Godfather are both great games that I highly reccomend.
How is Tiger Woods, I heard some people say Wii golf is better.

If you are talking about the Wii Golf that's on Wii Sports, I think Tiger is far superior to that. Tiger, to me (as a non-golfer), seems like a golf simulator, almost like hitting in a driving range.

Yeah thats the one I meant. I heard there a lot of aspects to Wii Sports Golf that were better. I was planning on getting Tiger Woods but got Godfather instead for that reason.

Well, tbh, I haven't really played the Wii Sports Golf much, only on the fitness test, but I've played 9 holes in Tiger on several courses, and I can only imagine that the graphics, courses, players are all leaps and bounds better than Wii Sports Golf.

I accidently saved over my franchise in that game right before the World Series against the Cardinals in my first year. I just came back to beat the Red Sox in the ALCS after being down 0-2 in the series. I was so pissed.

Now I'm doing the Road to the Show Career mode as a pitcher. It's pretty cool, although I get so frustrated when the manager takes me out of the game. I'm in my 3rd year now, spent my first in Trenton and my second in Scranton where I was briefly called up to the Show where I went 1-1 with the Yanks with like a 7.00 ERA. I need more seasoning.

Assassin's Creed does look pretty damn sweet. Army of Two alos looks like it has some definite promise, as does Haze. I had a PS3 in my hands this weekend, but could not pull the trigger. With some really good looking games coming out in the next 3-6 months, I may have to rethink my position

PIcked up Virtua Tennis 3 the otehr night. Very very very very fun game. I was looking for a sports game to get me through the summer months post MLB 2k7, pre madden. The game is loaded with minigames and you can play them all with up to 4 players.
Very good investment for the shear entertainment value.

The TRU in Times Square gets them daily. When I walk past the stores there are still lines for them.
    Also, check www.itrackr.com

Dude i love FFVII too, thats probably the only long game I've ever actually finished. But speaking of GTAIV (set in "Liberty City", meaning NYC), a new trailer came out today.

    http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/793/793799/vids_1.html

I really liked GTA III (I only played San Andreas) mostly because of how its basically real life except you can do all the things that aren't allowed (yes, like being really sadistic and beating up old women, thats why i will never let children of mine play this game until age 38. but theres also a lot of really cool ................ too). It reminds me of the movie Groundhog Day. GTA IV looks awesome

You know things are bad when you get tired of listening to the real baseball game to play the virtual one. That lasts for about 20 minutes though. Still have to keep the faith.

I am really really pumped for Resident Evil 4 to hit shelves for the Wii.....in my opinion RE-4 for GameCube and PS2 is THE BEST shooter ive ever played....though Resistence Fall of Man comes close

Other than that ive been living in Twlight Princess....and just waiting....patiently...for assassins creed.

on another note...has anyone played The Darkness? its about a vampire assassin....sounds badass

I love playing the Taigo Drum Master Series. I've only played the arcade version and the home version (PS2 with drum sets). Haven't played the PSP version yet. There are tons of youtube footages of avid fans in Japan playing like real masters. It's insane. But it really is quite a lot of fun. A great game for parties, too!

Haha. Somehow it doesn't come as a surprise. It's funny that when we say musical prodigies, the Asians immediately think of 4-year-old pianists/violinists while you'll see a lot of 4-year-old guitarists/drummers (rock/jazz) from Western countries.

In Zelda: Twilight Princess you hold the nunchuck in your right hand and the wiimtoe in your left, swinging, stabbing, and shaking the wiimote will do sword moves similar to the wiimote move.

There is only one problem...and this is only for true Zelda fans to care about....but you hold the sword right handed...

I've only played it like 20-30 minutes, but since it's made for the wii specifically, the controls are great. In some ways it's very similar to Mario 64, in other ways, very different.
