So FFXIV decided to go China all up on their playerbase.

Basically it's 8 hours per week @100% Skill increase, then dwindling to 0 in 10% increments during the following 7 hours. However, this is class-specific. So playing another class will give you a fresh 100% start for that class for 8 hours.
Essentially, what they're doing is penalizing players for actually playing their game. Yea. 8 hours every week, on ONE class, after which you gain...nothing until that week ends.

8 hours seems like a lot, but it literally takes hours (2+ depending on how lucky you get) to gain levels in the early stages of the game. Incredible.

I know nothing about this series... but why would they do that? What purpose does it serve (or attempt to serve?)

I downloaded Castle Crashers and TMNT 1989. Both are fun as hell.

As an aside, Shank looks amazing.

Its a 2 fold attempt in my mind.

    1. to get players to explore all aspects of the game

    2. Tries to elimante RMT(Real Money Transactions) Gold Farmers, or in FF Gil Farmers.

There is alot of things I am scratching my head about. This should not affect me that bad if I do pick FF14 up as I will multi-class. But I can sure see how it can piss alot of people off. Its like they went way out of their way to make things complicated for Gil sellers at the expense of people who want to play the game.

That being said, I am just gonna wait until after the game is released and I read reviews on the full game, or play it myself to decide. My PC should be able to play it(I got a moderate score on the benchmark), but just might wait for PS3 version. I want no part of the initial launch anyways, I have done my share of MMO launches. Constant server crashes and log-in queues are not my idea of fun.

As soon as I move in to my new place I can start Metroid: Other M, which means I'll be playing three games at once (FFIX and Uncharted are the others). This could be tough.

I just finished Uncharted last night... and the good news is, I did it within three days, so I can return it to Gamestop for a full refund towards Uncharted 2.

No one knows yet. Presumably its to get more people to try out different jobs (FFXI basically revolved around 5-6 jobs, while the rest were tossed to the side) Idiotic method, but it's only the beta.

I have to wait till March while PC users get it in 29 days. Bastards.

Yeah. I figured I'd start with UC1 and then move on through the story. I probably won't get the game until I finish GOW:III though, which I started last night... (or, this morning.)

Last night was our cutoff for MW2. Might start Halo3 MP again this weekend if there's time.

Also have to beat Zeus in GoW3 to end what turned out to be an absolute fantastic trilogy of gaming.

At first glance, the fight seems kind of weak. I hope it progresses.

The most special piece of vaporware ever. I remember reading about this in a Gamepro probably around 1996. I'll believe it when I see it. On XBox Live there was a new Duke game available in the arcade. I forgot what it was called. I think the Manhattan Experiment or something. Duke 3D is also available but I think that was originally on the PSX.

So, been playin the open beta for Final Fantasy XIV...boy Square, you sure know how to take a simple idea, an installer/patcher and turn it into a disaster. After 4 days I was finally able to get everything loaded. It actually plays fairly well on my PC. Was only able to log a few hours so far but it took me a while to figure some stuff out as I did not play FF XI.

I'm never buying another piece of sh... GoTY edition for any game again. FO3 was littered with bugs/freezes and now Oblivion has an issue where if you get turned into a Vampire, you can't do the quest that will cure you of it.

Had to sign up for a free 10-day-trial of Gamefly just to rent out the original in order to complete the quest. Idiotic.

Yup, same thing happened to me. I think the only way to cure it is to get it cured by someone before its first cycle. Yea, found that out after the fact.

I know I'm not fully a vampire yet, I do have one ability and my Vampirism is at 25%

Does that mean I can cure myself by going to a temple or something? I tried eating some of the food that apparently cures it..but it didn't work.

There are certain steps you need to do to cure vampirism. I haven't played the game in 3 years but I put over 100 hours into it, so I know you can cure it. Look on youtube or a FAQ.

ETA: Just looked it up, yea get someone to cure you within 3 days. There was something about creating a separate save changing the game language to another language(French,German) the witch would than take the bloodgrass, get the potion. Than you can switch it all back to English. I tried it and it didnt work.

ETA2:The non-GOTY fix only works I believe if you havent entered Shivering Isles yet

I enjoyed playing as a vampire for a little bit, than its just one big pain in the ass. Fast traveling sucks if you go far as you have to high tail it to a building if you arrive after sun up. Than constantly having to feed just became annoying. The stat bonuses and extra skills are useful, but not worth the headache IMO.
