What are they talking about? They're making it sound like Pavano is some rookie that Pettitte is taking under his wing.

He's at 7 innings, 2 runs. A great outing. If he gives up a few runs (and he was getting smoked last inning) a few things happen. First, you end up using the more premium bullpen arms in a game you had a big lead in. Second, you end up with a much less gaudy line. And....with a guy who hasn't had a nice pretty line in two years, it DOES mean something. It's nice to think that every player is only concerned with the team winning (and I believe most have that as their primary goal), but human nature is to want to have the flashy numbers.

Those negative things can happen, but knowing Joe, we'll be using premium arms even though we're up by 6 runs, so I'd rather see him go out there for 1 more inning.

Just got back from dinner -- Pavano was yanked before he even hit 80 pitches? I know he probably doesn't have the stamina that he will midseason, but c'mon... he's pitching a gem.

    EDIT: And no walks!

Exactly. If they stop trying to score, we should stop taking bases when they're available, but until then, I see no good reason to.

FSN North just showed a hilarious shot. Guidry calls Bullpen. Bullpen coach starts pointing towards the end of the bench, and Farnsworth starts hiding behind Proctor, while Proctor laughs and keeps pointing at Farnsy like if to say "He's here! Pick him!"

After dealing with Pavano's diving and swerving pitches, Bruney's heat must not feel so nice for the Twinkies.
