Buck Martinez said in the pre-game that Justin Morneau was far and away the best player in baseball last year. Wow.

Buck's a tool.Originally Posted by octoberair

If Abreu starts hitting a lot of homeruns again he will be an absolute monster this year.

Lead the way, Mr. Girardi.
How is Pav doing?
SI: Do you have a secret ambition?
Igawa: That's secret.

So far, so good. Walked one but made up for it on a DP. 7 pitch 1st inning.Originally Posted by Mark19

I heard this today...Did Coltrane actually exist? This is like being blind for 50 years, regaining sight, and then peering directly at the sun.
Smashed it off a righty as well...Originally Posted by hardrain
Calmer than you are.
I know that Nate Silver of Baseball Prospectus called him a "red herring" yesterday, but he is looking fantastic this spring.Originally Posted by hardrain
I am sure thats not the way Philips wanted to follow a monster homerun by Phelps.
Metalboy15 Thanks for posting the Gameday link.

Pavano's getting some awful luck. Two little bloopers, a weak ground ball, and a decently hit single = 2 runs.
I think Pavano, much like former Yankee mop-up reliever Dave Pavlas, needs to develop a "Pav-ball".
Waiting for Sterling to retire so I can start listening to games on the radio again...
Pavano is again the victim of bad defense. Basak sounds like a pretty crappy fielder.

Not a bad pitch to finally get out of the inning.

72 degrees outside...why am I working?

At least you aren't sitting in a History class
I'm "working," but let's just say I love the Slingbox.
Did you just say there is no Andy Pettitte, Buck?
WOW. Buck Martinez: "What the Yankees lack that they had in the World Series years is the dramatic starting pitchers...there's no Rogers Clemens, no Andy Pettitte..."
:|
I'm guessing that no MVP chants followed that double play ball by Morneau.
Next thing, Buck will be telling us there's no Santa Claus.

Abreu walks. Posada hits a long drive just foul, and then pops out.
Pavano's line doesnt look too good thus far. IGAWA for opening day!
Lead the way, Mr. Girardi.
Good afternoon, kids. It's going on 80 here but the Yanks are on.![]()

Wow, Pavano is flashing a pretty good looking changeup.
Must...resist...urge...to.....get excited about Pavano.
No K's though.![]()
Bob comes through again, this time with a single. First and second, 1 out.
He's looking like a legit 3/4 to me.Originally Posted by just-blaze
