    3/19 Yanks @ Blue Birds

Just an update, in the third inning Jays up 2-0 on a pair of poorly played fly balls to leftfielder Cairo.

The wind has played havoc with Karstens and Cairo's inability to catch deep fly balls hasn't helped.

Tomo Ohka has been effective for Toronto through two.

Another awful play for Cairo, he catches a lazy fly to left and tries to double Reed off of first but throws the ball 10 feet over Mientkiewicz's head. Reed on 2nd, error on Miguel.

He is a fine infielder but he simply isn't an option in the outfield except in major emergencies.

Except his infield defense seems to have regressed this year. Let's not talk about his offense.

Cairo misplays another ball and Karstens gets yanked with a man left on second.

Britton comes in to relieve Karstens and immediately gives up a 2-run double to Overbay. I think it is safe to say that big Chris will begin the year in AAA.

Britton gives up five straight sharp hits including a 3-run bomb for Gregg Zaun, 9-1 Toronto.

Karstens was better than what his line indicated. There were a couple of hard hits but only one of his four earned runs was truly earned. Cairo misplayed two balls off the wall and committed a throwing error on a poor attempt to double a guy off of first. Britton then came on in relief and gave up 6 straight hits for a grand total of 6 runs earned.

Hmm, if he performs all year like he did at the end of last year, I'll have to add him to my holds league.

Players can go back and forth between minor and major league camps. It's all about getting everyone enough playing time.

The Minor League camp is right across the street. Is this a road game? Vets don't like to travel.

Tampa to Dunedin can't be much more than 1/2 hour though.
