Spring Training 3/8/07 Yankees at Atlanta

I'm guessing this one's mostly a B squad game, being after a night game and on the road. Probably not televised

    Edit:
    Mussina vs. Hudson

    Damon
    Jeter
    Cano
    Giambi
    Sardinha
    Chavez
    Reese
    Nieves
    Mussina

Let's hope the ATL radio announcers are more professional than those Cleveland hacks.

Francouer opposite field shot, apparently it either hit off Sardinha's glove or the top of the wall

    Groundout, 1 out

Based on what you've seen so far in ST, who do you want see the 4th outfielder if Melky has to start due to injury (like if Abreu isn't ready for opening day, for example?)
Kevin Reese or Kevin Thompson? Or maybe Sardinha?

I think it will be KT because of his toolsy-ness (bunting, pop, speed) but Reese and Sardinha have been impressive as well.

If the Braves are gonna compete with Mets and Phillies, they need Hudson and Hampton to rebound. It is completely possible, imo, although unlikely that both have 30+ starts of solid pitching.

Well, he's a better hitter and baserunner than Reese, I'm guessing he's a better fielder. Sardinha should probably play an entire season at AAA so he can get a full season of at-bats just in case he develops enough to be a major league hitter (I dont think he's a very good fielder)

Right I agree. How is KT defensively?
Unfortunately neither KT nor Sardinha have succeeded yet at the AAA level, hopefully this is the year and we get some outfield depth in our system so we can have the same type of reinforcements as last year when Guiel and Bernie stepped up and produced like adequate major leaguers (as opposed to a guy like Andy Phillips, although that's another position altogether)

I get the feeling he has good range and makes ok reads, but is erratic. Should be fine in the corner positions, solid arm. Probably average to below average in CF. I'm not an expert on this, someone else could tell you better

IMO Unless someone did a scientific, convincing study, your opinion is as good as anyone's. I actually see the same thing. My perception tells me he's a bit like Cano, he can make some nice plays and then some ugly ones. I haven't seen enough of him yet though.
