I hope the Yanks hold on to him. If they do, I'll think he'll finish the year in Scranton. Maybe even as a last season call up.

he's gonna be traded to get the real 1Bman that the yankees need after doug mz proves that he's not a hitter.

Duncan has the year everyone has been waiting for in AAA and gets a August call up while one of the two 1b that made the team gets released or sent down.

Here's to being a Yankee minor league fan

Honestly, its hard to predict, you have to leverage tools, past production, injury, and bias with Duncan.

Or he hits well in Scranton and gets call up to replace Doug in the mid-season and become a hitting machine in major league like Cano.

I'm not drinking the Duncan kool-aid just yet. I know he has been injured, but he was downright awful in AAA and he wasn't much better in AA. I think we are rushing him.

spends the whole season at triple-a. hits the dl at least once. finishes the season with 450 ab's, .255 average, 18 homers, 65 rbi and 150 k's. he's basically drew henson.

He isn't Drew Henson because the Yanks gave Henson a 20 million dollar contract. The Yanks have no such contract with Duncan.

I think he's finally healthy and tears it up in AAA, we'll see him mid-season, playing first and slugging 9th. The Scranton team is gonna be good and not full of retreads for the first time in a long time.

Wasn't much better in AA? Heh, you might want to check those numbers again.

I guess you are right. I was looking at the averages. Is Eric never going to hit for average?

    .840 OPS in Trenton
    .534 OPS in Columbus

I think he's capable of a 260-ish average in the bigs but his walks should help him put up an OBP of .350+.

Which is exactly why BA, in itself, is such a meaningless stat.

his line prior to his slide from injury (in AA)

    .286/.380/.558 - 147 AB - 14 2B - 1 3B - 8 HR - 21/18 BB/K

Re: POLL: Where will Eric Duncan finish 2007?

The key is making sure I get to see the games. I've seen him probably 15 or 20 times on TV or compute, once when he was in High School, then several times in the Yankee system and ST. In the games I have seen he has NEVER failed to hit a homerun. In fact he's hit 2 a couple of times. So my scouting report is: Babe Ruth, but I know about the inuries and do see the boxscores when I'm not watching... That said, he has a stadium swing and should eventually mash there.

I'm not one to have blind faith in something. Duncan has been a real dissapointment for us so far. He's gonna have to prove to me this year that he isnt a bust.....right now my expectations for him are nothing.

    Jesus Montero since June 1 (286 at-bats):
    .325/.386/.605/.991
    July 1 (182 at-bats):
    .348/.417/.658/1.075

I think the BA likely will never be very high (I'm betting that his best years are in the .275-.280 range), but with the walks and HR when healthy, if he has a generally healthy year, I'd bump his SLG, OBP (thus OBP) up some more.

I wanted to say YS as a late season 40 man roster call up, but I just couldn't do it with Eric's track record.

I hope and think he gets a full solid year of AAA under his belt, with a Bronx debut in 2008.

I'm still a believer in Duncan. If he finds his stroke in AAA, he could be in YS way before Sept. Its not like he has much RH 1st baseman talent blocking him in NY.

I have followed the Yankees since 1966, and teh Minors since the late 1970s. I can't recall ever when AAA was not populated by a tleast a few late 20s - early 30s guys just hanging around. This year will be different, finally.

This sounds about right, IMO. I think the Doug M. experiment will not be the collosal failure that many on the Yankee Boards are predicting.

Re: POLL: Where will Eric Duncan finish 2007?

I think if Eric Duncan has any solid season to speak of in AAA this year, he'll be in New York by year's end.

Re: POLL: Where will Eric Duncan finish 2007?

If things go well, he could be the starting 1Bman in 2008. By 2009 or 2010, he could be the DH.

When does he have to be added to the 40 man roster? Considering how crowded it is, I don't think he'll be called up unless he has to be added or he's hitting lights out and is needed.

Or in the cases of Will Nieves, Kevin Reese and either Phillips or Phelps, just be outright released/DFA'd (though Phelps would have to be offered back to the O's first).
