    New Years Eve 2006

    Plans? What's everyone doing?

We go to a wild ass party that's about 1/4 mile up the street every year. I'd love to stay home one year but we're expected to go to this party.

The next day a ton of people come to our beach and jump in the freezing cold water at noon. It's funny to watch them all. I take pictures.

    Merry f'ing Christmas

    Doin' nada. Like always.

My daughter asked if she could have a few friends over. I don't mind. I'd rather them be here than somewhere else. So, we'll get pizza for them and they can have their little New Years party.

Some party with the new GF in Brooklyn Heights but she's flying home to Nashville at 6 AM and probably has to be at the airport at 4.

    Re: New Years Eve 2006

I haven't been to a new years Eve party in over 25 years and lately with the kids grown and out of the house, well frankly I see no reason to stay up till midnight.

BUT, this year we'll be at a New Years Eve at the Elks in Ft Lauderdale, FL with my wife's brother and his wife. After that Nancy and I drive to Islamorada for a week of fishing and fun in the sun. Looking forward to it and to eating fresh caught fish every day.

Wow, Andy, that's sounds great! Enjoy! We have no plans in particular. I'm just not into going out on NYE and staying up way past my bedtime and navigating the highways with a bunch of drunks.

New Years Eve is huge in Montreal never knew why. We`ll start at the bottom of Cresent street at Hurley`s Irish Pub and and finish at the top at Ziggy`s. That should cover about 6 Pubs in between. City by-law allows Pubs to stay open till 7:00 am so not to cause havoc in the streets at 3:00.

Yeah, but you get to walk home afterwards.... errr, I mean stagger home afterwards, right? Having to drive puts a crimp on everything.

Have fun Jacques, and stay safe.

People look at me like I have two heads when I tell them this, but I will probably just stay home, relax, and watch movies or something.

I rarely ever drink or party, so why should New Year's Eve be any different? It's just another day.

I'll most likely be awake, since I'm not sure what my older daughter is doing yet. Plus, I've been getting to bed so late that I'm sleeping later in the mornings.

I'll stay up and watch the Honeymooners marathon, and then I'll continue watching it the next day as I take my tree down.

I'm the same way. While I've gone out in the past for new years, it was never a big deal for me and by the time midnight hit I wanted to go home.

I have made a pact with myself not to drink at the party. I will have a bottle of Champaign chilled in our hotel room which is five miles from the party. So when we get back after midnight, I'll satisfy my thirsts. I pride myself in being a great defensive driver, always anticipating stupid moves from the others on the roads so I am not concerned and looking forward to the event.

Also on Wednesday there is a place on the bayside of Islamorada that always has a "full Moon "party on the day each month of the full moon. And Wednesday will be a full moon. Everyone gathers around the beach with their favorite refreshment and celebrates the full moon coming up. It is always a tremendously fun event. I have been to it a few times and Nancy, never. It'll be a great experience for her and after the full moon party, in the comfort of our own room, well, I'll just howl at the moon and do whatever comes naturally.

We're goin to dinner with my old roommate and his gf, then maybe to a bar down the street from me...but probably back to my place to hang out. It's too overblown and just not as fun as it was before I was 21.

Even if we go out somewhere, they jack up the prices. If we go too far, someone has to stay sober, and I don't feel safe driving long distances on NYE. Just because I'm sober doesn't mean the guy driving next to me is.

Montreal has free bus and metro service that nite but I`ll cab it to stay away from the hooligans. What another $30.00 at this point during the Holidays. Plus the fact I still have another 70 free pints left on my Keg.

NYE is overrated. I'm actually goin down to NYC tonight to visit a few friends...gonna go out for dinner and then do some bar-hopping. By going tonight instead of tommorrow, we are gonna save ourselves a ton of money and alot of hassle.

Tommorrow I think I'm just gonna chill at my friend's apartment with his gf and a few other friends....cook some food, play some beer pong and poker and just relax.

Years ago there was a cartoon about New Years Eve. I want to say it was Family Circus, but I'm not sure.
It showed the various ages of people and what they do for NYE. I thought it was pretty clever and true, but of course I can't remember how it went.

Cooking a reasonably fancy dinner for a couple of friends, and generally hanging out. Filet, risotto, braised endive with Stilton, and something else that I haven't figured out yet.
And wine. And I'll still be in bed before midnight.

Don't tell Rhodey I'm the underage drunk girl he'll be taking advantage of tomorrow night.

Nice! Dinner at your place! What time should I get there?
