Thread: Kei Igawa Signed

    Kei Igawa Signed

    Kei Igawa-S-Yankees Dec. 16 - 6:38 pm et

The Yankees are likely to have Kei Igawa signed to a five-year, $20 million contract by Sunday.
Igawa will have to take a physical first. The two sides are facing a Dec. 28 deadline to get a deal done.

Great contract, unless he ends up a LOOGY. But if he can be a solid #4 or even a #5, that's a great contract. Of course you add in the signing bid, and it makes it a little much for a possible pen hand IMO, but the contract is solid.

I'm afraid this thread will be locked until his signing becomes official which won't happen until early next week at the earliest.

    Read the article

He isn't signed yet, you should change your thread title.

    Igawa: That's secret.

That's not a bad contract based upon his expectations and what his predicted results will be.

Thats a lot less money than I thought we would be gouged for. Good job Cash Money. I thought he would get something ridiculous like 8mil per.

Thank the Sox. The Matsuzaka contract set the value for Igawa. (although $4M was the first number I heard Cash mention when they won his rights)

    Re: Kei Igawa Signed

this would be a very nice signing. the posting bid was half that of Matsuzaka's, but the contract is even less than half of what Matsuzaka signed for

    You would be correct.

Until the deal becomes official, please continue to use the existing thread to discuss Mr. Igawa. Thanks.
