ST. LOUIS -- The Rittenbergs planned to shoot family movies with a new camcorder. They may have to settle for a family pasta dinner, instead.
The couple paid about $1,600 for a camcorder at a Best Buy store in the St. Louis suburb of Ellisville last week. They said when they opened the box, they found something they hadn't pictured: a jar of Classico pasta sauce where the camera should have been.

Last August, I went to Florida to visit my cousins. We bought $100 worth of air mattresses at K-mart and tied them together to float down a 10-mile stretch of river. The next day my cousin's husband deflated them, put the dirty, wet mattresses in their boxes, went back into K-mart, and got his money back.
Some(most)times, store clerks don't give a shat. I'll believe that someone returned it with the jar inside and nobody bothered to look.

I haven't kept up with camcorder pricing but $1,600 seems awfully high. Don't those things cost somewhere around $500 now?

I feel kind of bad because I think it's a bit funny, but considering that the family got their camcorder eventually I should be alright.
If someone got the gift they wouldn't know it was the wrong gift. They would be sitting there scratching their heads as to why they were given a jar of sauce for a gift. I would be saying,"the least they could have done was give me the pasta to go with it!"
The pasta sauce tastes better anyway.
