So, here at NYU they have an "explorations" program, where as a freshman you can choose to live on a themed floor. I chose to live on a floor entitled "The Power of Politics." Last night, our floor had our local city councilman, Alan Gerson (who by the way was very nice and seemed interested, despite also being very "politician"), come and talk to us. The entire time, he didn't refer to us as "freshmen" but rather as "freshpeople." He said it with a straight face too.
Now my question is, do you think that he was just making a very unfunny joke, or do you think that he was just being far too politically correct, and thus avoided the use of "men"? I can't really tell, and my floormates are equally as confused.
