That doesn't make sense. In 30 some years, his character has gone through many spells with no major story line. But we always knew he was in the background somewhere. Same with any long term character.

I think it is reaction to his death (one of his daughters, adopted, is involved with the guy who's largely responsible for the event that leads up to it (there is a hostage crisis with half the cast including Alan.).

You will be in for a big surprise. They are all being held hostage. Very tense and emotional. It is an interesting departure. You can also catch up on the beginning of the week on the weekend on SoapNet.
That still does not make sense to me. To get rid of an oldtimer just to see what the reaction of the adopted daughter will be is absurd.
One thing I will say is that Stuart Damon was becoming ineffectual in his acting. He was so good in years past but has gained so much weight he can hardly breathe let alone say his lines. I think if he lost some weight and got back his acting chops he may not have been axed. They shouldn't have killed him off in case they wanted to have him come back.
BTW, how do you know all the inside scoop? Have you been reading Soap Opera Digest?

Noah was just on yesterday or the day before. Who was Noah Drake married to? Just today Patrick was saying that his father was so broken up when his mother died and he resented him for it because he didn't try to snap out of it. Now, Patrick, despite never allowing himself to get close to a woman, has fallen in love with Robin and now he may lose her because she was wounded in the hostage standoff. Now maybe he can forgive his father for the past.

They've said her name before but I forget. Patrick's mother died on the table (with Noah operating) from some type of brain surgery. Noah blamed himself and began drinking heavily after that and became estranged from Patrick. That was the backstory given when they brought the character of Noah back and introduced Patrick in 2005. No one really questioned GH re-writing history because Noah had been gone for over 20 years. He was involved with Bobbi and Tiffany at the time.
I love when Noah is on.Seems they make sure he is around for sweeps! And I love the love story between Patrick and Robin. He broke my heart yesterday when he was telling his buddy Pete how much he loves Robin and can't live without her, saying he finally understood what his dad went through...

Annie Logan! I remember her too. No, they gave the impression that this all took place away from Port Charles. I forget where Robin went to find Noah (Atlanta comes to mind) so he could do Jason's surgery. Everyone made a huge thing about Noah being when Robin brought him back and had no idea that he had married...

Yes it was very touching what Patrick was saying yesterday. I finally understood why he was so angry at his father. You said Robin went looking for Noah to operate on Jason. Did she know Patrick at the time or did she find out about Patrick after she found Noah? Was the operation on Jason when he lost his memory?
I also used to watch when they had the Rick/Monica/Alan triangle but I stopped watching along the way and am trying to figure out some of the characters now. For example, Elizabeth is Audrey's granddaughter. Does that mean that Steve Hardy was her father? And then who are her parents?
I get confused too with how the newer characters are connected to the older ones since I stopped watching the show for years. Correct--Noah's wife was not someone on GH. Robin did not know Patrick but went to find him when Noah was in no condition (alcoholic) to perform the surgery. I can't remember if Noah told her about him or someone else. The surgery had something with Jason's condition but I can't remember what it was.
I think Liz's father is Jeff Webber (can't remember her mom's name) and Steve Hardy was her grandfather. Liz's parents were off in Africa on some type humanitarian/doctor thing was LIz's character arrived like 10 years ago--never have been around for anything.

I knew that Steve was Audrey's husband. As I said I meant to say grandfather. So I was thinking that her father would then be Tom Hardy but I knew he was married to Simone, who was a black woman, and thought they only had a son, not a daughter. So who is her mother if Tom Hardy is her father?

Well, I guess she probably was the only grandmother she really knew.
I swear sometimes they just invent kids and stick them on the show whn they are older. I think that's why I don't remember a lot of the young adults who were supposedly kids of characters I knew of.

I know! It is just so confusing. When they want a new character they just invent one. And yet they kill off the real families off spring. In the Family Tree for Liz's mother they say unknown. BTW, for Patrick they have his mother's name as Mattie, if that means anything.
