Tracy Quartermaine Was actually married to Luke because he stole money from the Cassadine account and put it into a Quatermaine account so that Helena could not get it but needed to be married to get it out. They got a quickie divorce so that him and Laura could get remarried. I don't know about the money

Luke keeps saying he got a quickie divorce. Although I don't know when he had the time to get it and they haven't showed that. I did see them being interviewed on the news today and she said they are keeping the door open for her to come back. Maybe she will decide to come back to the show. It sounds like she is thinking about it. Not that I would watch it anyway. I don't have time to get caught up in a SO.

Funny thing is...my mom was so hooked, she was once in the supermarket and running late. She actually left the cart full of groceries in the store and ran home so she wouldn't miss her soap.
Of course, those were pre-VCR days!
For me, it was the other way around. I used to watch one of the soaps (forgot which) & I used to ask my mom to watch w/ me, but she was always saying she was too busy. After many months of walking by the TV, however, she gradually became curious about certain story lines, & eventually got hooked in a major way!
And this is the only part of the story line you find hard to believe?
Alexis has lung cancer and her husband, Ric, had sex with her daughter, Sam (the one who cries and cries and cries all the time), on the floor of their living room. Ric and Sam were both upset with Alexis because she was being a big meanie-pants and hurt their wittle feelings so they got drunk and had sex. Ric is turning psycho again but I love the actor who plays him, Rick Hearst. Sam is just plain annoying.Is this the SO where there's this woman who's dying of cancer and her husband is going out with her sister or something? If it is, I absolutely hate it. My wife always watches it and the world comes to a complete stop when it's on.

I loved the Ice Princess storyline. It may not have been realistic but it was a lot of fun and it showed Luke and Laura in their heyday. Now, the Casey the Alien story (he was from a planet called Lumina) was a bit more unbelievable.As soon as I read that, I immediately thought of the Ice Princess storyline, which George mentioned.

Tonight on Soap Net they are playing the old Luke and Laura episodes, 4 of them, I think. They are also having a special with Anthony Geary and Genie Francis. I never watch soaps but did watch the Luke and Laura back in the eighties. It brings back memories so I'm gonna watch.
Laura is back in la la land again. But I hear that Genie Francis (Laura) and Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin) are in talks to return.

Is the baby Alan's? I am assuming that in between the two episodes Rick found out that it was not his baby and maybe got mad and left Monica because she lied about it.

I have a book that details the whole history of General Hospital up until 1995. I almost forgot that I had it (bought it in some discount store a few years ago). Anyway, I looked it up and the story is so convoluted. But there was a doctor doing some ahead of its time research that was able to determine without a doubt that Alan was the father. Once Alan found this out he was determined to make sure that Rick found out about it in the most public way he could. That was the Fund Raising Dinner that they talked about on the second episode aired last night. His big plan which he carried off was to make the announcement at the dinner so that all of Port Charles would know the truth. Rick then had to leave Monica out of embarrassment for the whole episode. The baby was Alan Jr. who is now known as AJ. In the middle of all this happening Alan actually tried to carry out a plan to kill Monica and Rick only to save them at the last minute because someone caught onto his plan. As I said it is very involved.IIRC, they knew it was Alan's because of some birthmark every Quartermaine boy had.

You are right about the birthmark. Monica noticed it on the baby and Lila Quartermaine told her that was a Quatermaine trait but in and of itself it did not prove anything but it led her to take the baby to a hematologist to see if she could get proof the baby was Ricks. What she found out instead was that through this rare medical phenomenon known as the Bombay Phenotype Syndrome it was determined that the baby was indeed Alan's. That made Monica desperate and she tried to get rid of the hematologist, Dr. Henry, by arranging for him to take a new job far away from Port Charles. This scheme backfired on Monica because, before leaving town for his new job, Dr Henry told Alan about the results of his tests. Alan was stunned by the news but kept it a secret waiting for the opportune moment to spring it on them which was at the Fund Raising Dinner. I don't know it they are going to repeat the three episodes but at 7PM Eastern time they are repeating the retrospective with Geary and Francis for one hour. Maybe they are repeating those episodes today or tomorrow, you could check.OMG, I forgot to TIVO it....
It really is a kick remembering all those old plotlines. It is amazing what details stick in your mind. Not to date myself but, reading that book I realized that General Hospital started in April '63 and I started watching it 9 months later in January of '64 since I was home taking care of my newborn. I gave it up a year later and then went back to it when they had the Luke and Laura story. Seeing it now, after all these years I can remember all the characters from the beginning. I started watching with my mom, probably around 1972 or so. I vividly remember the nurses station with a pretty young Jesse Brewer (who was still around during those L&L episodes last night), but I also remember an older nurse. Maybe Lucille? They wore those old fashioned nurses hats.

Jesse was a lot prettier in 1964. Jesse stayed on the show until the actress died in real life. By that time she looked like something from the Twilight Zone. Anyway, at that time she had a husband Phil Brewer who kept cheating on her and he was very handsome and younger than she was. She kept going back with him even after he cheated. At that time he was played by the actor Roy Thinnes, who went on to other things and was replaced by another actor. Lucille was Audrey's sister. Audrey, an airline stewardesss came into town to visit her sister and eventually married Dr. Hardy. I remembered her marrying Dr. Hardy. The plot went back and forth quite a bit before that happened. It did look more like a hospital back then.
Good news... it's being shown again on Soapnet (Ch. 262 I think) from 12 noon until 3:00 or 4:00 today. This time I TIVO'ed it. Thanks again for the info!

I really enjoyed watching L & L on Soapnet this weekend. It really took me back in time.
