Tomorrow, 25 years after the famous soap wedding aired, Luke and Laura will be renewing their vows.

Me too from way back. I have the Soapnet channel on Direct TV Channel 262 and I have been catching up with it on Sundays they rerun the entire past weeks episodes. The Soapnet Channel also is having a special on Friday 11/24 all about the L and L phenomenon.

I was such a big GH fan back then. We watched the wedding in college, it was a whole big event. One of the frat houses had it on, and we had a major party (any excuse for a party).

Yup, they get married (it's not real but she doesn't know) and by next Wednesday she'll be back in a catatonic state.

I've been watching GH since 1979 with a few breaks here and there over the years. It's too bad the writers suck so badly (with the exception of one or two co-writers). They're ruining the show and they aren't giving the Luke & Laura reunion the treatment it deserves.I loved L&L back in the day and just wish they'd get more respect for the short time Genie Francis is back.
The only watchable story on this show for me right now are Robin and Patrick even though their airtime gets jacked by all the mobsters. Everything else is irritating me to no end.
No offense to Sonny/Jason/Carly/Sam fans, but I'm tired of seeing them on my screen for 40 minutes an episode while Robin and Patrick ony get about 5 minutes for the entire week (or so it seems sometimes).
Sorry to crap all over a happy, positive thread but you can probably tell I'm having some issues with the show these days.
This has been airing for a couple of weeks already. She came out of her coma about 2 weeks ago.
I agree with the person who said they are not giving the L and L story it's due. I also used to watch back before their original wedding. I think everyone one watched then. There was something about them that just jelled and you can still see it now. If she is going to go back into a coma that is sad!

I have memories of Laura's real mother (can't remember, was it Leslie?) looking for her and she was just a teen. Laura was shopping in some store and the mother was spying on her trying to catch a glimpse of her.

I'm the one who said that Robin and Patrick are the only watchable couple on this show.
As for Jason (the "Borg") and Sam, I wish they would do a murder/suicide storyline with those two.
I haven't gotten to watch it yet, but if it was Maxie, Laura probably looked uneasy because Maxie had an affair with Lucky.
Do yourself a favor and run - don't walk! - away from your TV as fast as you can when the show is on. Don't ruin your memories of when the show actually had great writing and a good producer. Yeah, the wedding today was ok because it was characters I knew, for the most part. But I don't know what's going on with Jason and Sam (don't even know who she is) and I don't like the guy playing Lucky now (I know Jonathan Jackson stopped being Lucky a long time ago, but he was the Lucky I always knew) and I can't get used to LuLu being a grownup (I assume she hasn't been the same kid growing up on the show)

GH has given the vets the shaft and don't treat them well at all. Other soap operas probably treat their vets much better. Tristan Rogers (Robert) was brought back but he's been crapped all over by Frons and the writers and doesn't have a story. You barely see him with his own daughter, Robin.
They dusted off Bobbie for the wedding but you hardly ever see her (not that I'm complaining because I can barely look at her after all the cosmetic surgery she's had).
JJ was the best Lucky but the current Lucky, Greg V., is better than the second Lucky.
I believe Lulu was about 5 or 6 years old until one day she became a 17 year old, as only soap operas can do. No wonder Laura is so confused since waking up.
All you need to know about Jason is that he's the Borg (as in cyborg) and Sam cries constantly. I'm surprised Port Charles hasn't been submerged under 100 feet of water after all the crying she's done the past several months.

That show bit the dust a while ago. I only watched it for about a year after it started but then gave up on it. Near the end they had a bunch of vampires running around on the show. It's funny how General Hospital and Port Charles both took place in Port Charles but no one on GH knew anything about the vampires running around their in town.

I now watch All My Children, which I watched ages ago for many years, but a lot of the characters are the same. Also some of the kids are now grown-ups which is pretty funny. My daughter is hooked now, so we watch it together, which I enjoy.
It's amazing how I went 12 years w/ out watching it, but picked it back up again in pretty much no time flat!
There weren't too many old characters. I was disappointed the ones that were there didn't really say much. Although Tracy was entertaining as usual.

That's how I got hooked on soaps years ago. My mom used to watch a bunch of them. GH was my favorite, but I also loved Edge of Night and Days of Our Lives. Oh and I think One Life to Live, but I can't remember too much from that one.
Funny thing is...my mom was so hooked, she was once in the supermarket and running late. She actually left the cart full of groceries in the store and ran home so she wouldn't miss her soap.
Of course, those were pre-VCR days!

I missed it this afternoon so I will watch it tonight on SoapNet.
On the news this afternoon they interviewed Tony Geary and Genie Francis and she said they are keeping the door open for her to come back. So, she may still go back to the show again. Apparantly from what everyone is saying the show is not as good as it once was so I guess it doesn't matter either way. I think that is true of all soap operas. I used to watch them years ago when the story lines were not so unbelievable. How far do they expect us to stretch our imaginations.
Isn't Tracy the one Luke is married to now? He said he got a quickie divorce in South America but how could he have had the time. Sorry about that. I have been away and missed the show this week. When I watched Monday's show on tape I learned that it was temporary. I was really bummed to find that out and am surprised they brought it out before the wedding. It kind of ruins the enjoyment of the wedding, doesn't it?
Well, Genie Francis (Laura) was only brought back for a 4 week stint. And the "wedding" isn't even official since Luke is still married to Tracy.
