Based on the fact that Notre Dame football consumes roughly 70% of the NCAA Div 1 Football thread, I think it would be appropriate to have its own thread.
Go, Irish!!!

They landed All-American Greg Little, a 6'2" 214lb. kid from North Carolina yesterday. I was standing next to him on the sideline before the ND/UNC game and didn't even realize it until my brother pointed him out. From Rivals:
http://notredame.rivals.com/viewpros...40381#scoutingHe’s a running back for the most part in high school but wants to play wide receiver in college. He’s still very raw as a wideout and tends to fight the ball but he has the size and speed to become a dominator down the line. His best projection is at safety or linebacker where his skill set is rarer. Little dominates in his school based on his pure athletic ability and once he focuses on one position, he’ll be better off. On defense he closes on the ball well and has the speed to cover a lot of ground.
Unfortunately they missed out on Aurellious Benn, who chose Illinois.
What team do you support besides the one playing Notre Dame every week?Originally Posted by homer2931

Quarterback Jimmy Clausen played only 24 minutes in Oaks Christian School's regular-season finale against Santa Paula, but those 24 minutes were ones to remember.
Clausen was nothing short of spectacular Thursday night as he completed 14 of 17 passes for 367 yards and four touchdowns as Oaks Christian captured its 41st consecutive win by beating host Santa Paula 56-0.
Clausen's four touchdowns gave him 130 for his career and put him within two of tying the all-time state record.

1/2 a championship in 60 years. I would try to ignore that too. Trust me a Red Sox fan I'm good at it so I'm more than willing to give ou some pointers on that.Originally Posted by homer2931

Even though UM has been 2-3 against ND in the last five years, when we lose to ND, it's by the score of one TD or less, whereas in the two times ND lost to UM, those games were blowout losses (38-0 in 2003; 47-21 in 2006).Originally Posted by dabomb2045

Notre Dame goes for the Commander-in-chief trophy today!
Do you think they can pull it off?
What do you win for beating Ball State, Northwestern and Central Michigan?Originally Posted by homer2931

Whoever the genius is that landed the NBC deal and negotiated the BCS contract that says Notre Dame plays in a BCS game if they're anywhere in the top 12 (is that right, or is top 10?) should be enshrined in the CF Hall of Fame.Originally Posted by cmaff05
That TV deal gets you guys TONS of nationwide exposure and the BCS deal is sweet too. Although, with that schedule every year it's not a given ND will be in a BCS bowl. On another note, seems to me like the Domers are the Yankees of college football.

I like Notre Dame's fight song... but I like Michigan's better, though.![]()
Those who can — do. Those who can’t — criticize.
Michigan definitely has a cool fight song, it's my second favorite...right behind Texas, and ahead of ND. Someone needs to put together a thread to vote for favorite college fight song.Originally Posted by fredgmuggs

Shouldn't be concerned about your team? The death of Bo may fire them up but it's very realistic that the loser of this game won't be in the National Championship and Florida, USC, or ND (with the Commander-in-Chief trophy of course) can get in. I'm saying Ohio State 37 Michigan 20.Originally Posted by homer2931

Everything sounds great about Clausen. But I still get worries as I have not seen this kind of hype for an ND QB since....Ron Powlus!Originally Posted by NDBoston

Don't be worried. Powlus got hurt his freshman year and was never the same. Clausen is the real deal but injuries are always the wild card. Weis will have a better offense than Holtz to maximize his skills too.Originally Posted by yankeesAZ
The backups are good too. Demetrius Jones might even start next year from what I'm hearing.
2007 is going to be a tough season for ND though
That'd be interesting. If Demetrius can throw, I'd definitely be interested to see him back there. It'd add another dimension to an already awesome offense. But yeah, we might take a step back next year. I just hope the defense gets better.Originally Posted by NDBoston
Today's game versus Army is the 49th meeting between the two schools.
Notre Dame owns a 36-8-4 record in the series.
The last Army win was in 1958.
I'm certainly looking forward to this classic match up!![]()

The entire Vietnam War started & ended in this time!
The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones.......NONE even were even in extistence that last time that Army won.
Dwight D. Eisenhower was the President.
EVERY MLB player active in the game today was yet to be born!!!

It sure would be nice to see Army improve their record today.

Western Carolina is punishing Florida (#3). This can not be good for Florida's chances this year, Florida still has a chance to pull the game out, but they better start scoring... and fast.Originally Posted by Coney36

What does beating one team ranked at the end of the season get you?Originally Posted by NDBoston
Apparently a #5 ranking and a top 5 pick for your QB, although no one is sure why
