That old lady momentum is a cheap whore.
The Irish defense is flying around stopping the run and the pass now.

And then she switches sides again as Christ gets picked off.

MUCH better defensive game plan in this half. Thats what I'm talking about making Robinson a passer....make him beat you with his arm and not his legs.

Defense toughens up again....forces another missed FG. Time for Crist and Co. to get going again as they've kinda lost their rhythm the last two possessions.

Defense steps up again. Really they are doing a good job today....if you told me they would hold Michigan to 21 before this game started, I would have said they would definetly win the game.
Time for the offense to step up though...they have let some opportunities go to waste the last three possessions.

That was beautiful. Best play I've seen this season.

Of course now the defense decides to come up small. They are burning them with the same play this drive....the corners keep playing soft and they keep throwing that 6-7 yard route over and over again.

Robinson is just good..2nd start and he does that? Crazy.

Thoroughly predictable. You just knew the defense would fall apart at the most inopportune time.
Typical Notre Dame.

Why is Brian Kelly smiling? Wipe the smirk off your face....you just lost a BRUTAL game. One of the reasons being your dumbass decision to not kick the FG at the end of the 1st half.
I swear to God, this program just always finds ways to lose games like this. Always.

Tip my cap to Notre Dame... that was stressful to watch down the wire.

I actually think we have a coach. I disagreed with the FG call, but without a QB for 1.5 quarters we had no business being in this game...and we lost by 20 seconds.
Maybe I am wrong, but I have a feeling the man knows what he is doing...
"They go and target the Kanes and the Toews," Burish said. "That clown Burrows goes after Campbell. Give me a break, guys. If you want to target someone, come find me or come find Benny."
Maybe. I thought the call at the end of the 1st half was just insane. Fallacy of the pre determined outcome I know, but we would had a chance to kick a game-winning FG at the end instead of watching Crist sail a Hail Mary 10 yards out the back of the end zone.Originally Posted by Yanks1976
I just cant take anymore of these types of losses. How many of these gut-wrenching last second/minute losses have we seen this program have over the years? The list is never ending. It just seems like we always find a way to lose these types of games. Holtz, Davie, Willingham, Weis and now Kelly...it doesnt seem to matter who the coach is.

I guess I was looking at it from a perspective that we all suspected what would happen if Crist got hurt. We now know it was as bad as we thought it would be. With Dayne the score was 24-7 and without him it was 21-0. We are 2 different teams with him. But the thing is in the last few years when he got hurt and Rees made the mistake he made, the team would have totally folded. They didn't. It wasn't great by any means but they hung in and actually were winning the game with 21 seconds to go. The game was going to be a shootout and we had no offense for about 25 minutes, yet we still had a chance at the end.Originally Posted by dabomb2045
I don't know. I'm not happy with the result and I disagreed with the FG call when he made it. 3 years from now I will be ranting like a lunactic on here if this game plays out the way it did. For now though, I will take the lumps and give him a chance.

I really wasn't upset after the Notre Dame game. I have a few reasons.
1. They weren't going to play for a National Championship this year no matter how well they played all season.
2. Crist missed all of the first half minus one drive and Michigan finally pulled ahead of us with less than a minute to go.
3. The defense looked good. I know that may sound ridiculous to say considering their QB put up over 500 yards, but they held Michigan in check all of the second half (minus their last drive).
4. We won't see Denard Robinson again this year, or anyone like him. If he can improve his accuracy on deep throws, he may be unstoppable. He is impressive on short to mid throws.
5. The idea of going for a TD on the last play of the first half made me think that Kelly thought that Crist was out for the entire game.
It's never good to lose to Michigan, but I see a lot of positives with Brian Kelly and his staff.

Is George Atkinson formerly of the Raiders his father? If so then he comes from some good bloodlines as George Atkinson was one hard-hitting MF along with Jack Tatum and Willie Brown.Originally Posted by Yanks1976
Also, apparently his twin brother Josh Atkinson is coming to ND too.
I think they are his sons. Josh is being recruited as a CB and Georgre as a WR/KR/PR.Originally Posted by Yankees1962

Yeah, I know, they're George Atkinson's twin sons.Originally Posted by Yanks1976
The season is still very early, but I think we have a very good chance against USC this year. Even if we win it won't be the same with Pete being gone, but I'll take it.

ND is definitely improved over last year and could be in for a successful season . However, I think that next year with Kelly's recruiting and his knowledge of the game that the won/loss record will improve dramatically where they will be contending to be in the top 10.![]()
Yeah I got 3 was going to wait to see if it was going to go up to 3 1/2 but now I think lines gonna move down.Originally Posted by Yanks1976

Honestly, if Crist is ok I don't think that is a bad pick. He gets hurt again though, you may be screwed.Originally Posted by ny

Brian Kelly is rolling...Stephon Tuitt to Notre Dame. 4-star DE picks ND over Florida, Auburn, Georgia, and Tennessee. Rivals has him as the #22 player in the country and the #1 DE. Huge get for a team that has had trouble stopping anybody (to say the least).
