Post anything related to baseball. If it doesn't fit in the Yankees Discussion forum, it fits here.
Since there have been a couple queries about message boards for other teams in the past couple days, I thought it might be useful to have some sort of list of good fan sites around the MLB.
My goal is to have only two or three sites per team--it's not meant to include every forum out there. I also prefer to post forum sites over blogs, although if a blog has a game thread or is really, really good, I'll include it. Thanks for all the suggestions!
The following announcement is specific for the Yankees, but tickets to all MLB games, in additon to all other sporting, concert, or show events are also available. Check out http://tickets.nyyfans.com to see if we have tickets to the event you're looking for.
So you want to see the Yankees, ay? Are you frustrated by the lack of quality seats available from the Yankees Box Office or Ticketmaster, don't want to take out a second mortgage to buy...

BOSTON - Edgar Renteria's first choice was to remain in St. Louis, until the Boston Red Sox gave him an offer too good to turn down.
And losing ace pitcher Pedro Martinez may have given them the means to seal the four-year, $40 million deal for the All-Star shortstop who made the last out for St. Louis in Boston's World Series sweep of the Cardinals.
"I'm not so sure the Edgar Renteria signing, for example, would have been...
10. "When I signed my contract, I was under the impression I'd be managing the Yankees"
9. "I couldn't explain the balk rule if you paid me"
8. "Sometimes, I'd daydream during games about being a cowboy"
7. "I was hoping there would be a one-day strike so I could get my car inspected"
6. "The Rally Monkey can kiss my ass"
Todays Texas papers claim the Rangers are interested in Sosa and A-Rod. The talks with Boone have stalled and so the new plan is to court A-Rod and move their SS to 2B. If they can't get him interested they are talking about an outfield package, that might include Rickey LeDee, to the Cubs for Sosa.
In KC the Royals want ML ready middle relief for Damon, and won't budge on the request, despite the fact that Boras says any trade will be for a one year rental so Damon can test the market.
Anyone catch this catch tonite in the NLCS? SPECTACULAR! Next year is gonna be on a whole' nother level. With a healthy, tumor-free G-Man, Beltran will prob. bat SIXTH! Too bad John Henry will let a measly 225 million come between him and the greatest CF in the game.
The USA Today says the cards are going to let him play the outfield in extended Spring Training so he can "have fun again".
I guess they are hoping to follow the Knobby sucess? Ankiel has A & AA outfield experience and was a good hitter at one time according to the report.
Lopes threatens Rickey Henderson after he takes an extra base
July 29, 2001
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Rickey Henderson's chase of baseball's career runs record nearly led to severe retribution from the angry Milwaukee Brewers.
In the seventh inning of San Diego's 12-5 victory over Milwaukee, Henderson took off for second base. Milwaukee manager Davey Lopes was so upset that he threatened to have Henderson hit by a pitch if the Padres outfielder batted again.
Because the Padres lead was so...
Their last five runner-up finishes in the AL East standings would suggest the Red Sox have become familiar with playing on-field second fiddle to the Yankees.
But Red Sox team president Larry Lucchino just couldn't stomach coming up short to New York and owner George Steinbrenner in the courtship of free-agent pitcher Jose Contreras.
The bitter relationship between Lucchino and Steinbrenner came into unquestionable focus this week...
I think for the first time bud will have the fan support to clean this steroid thing up. I know it will NEVER happen, but I would love for him to tell the union either we have drug testing like the NFL or the will stage a lock out.Again I know it will never happen, but if anytime in his role of being commisioner of MLB he would have the support of the fans and I believe the media.
There is alot of energy being expended here lately ranting about FOX. Use the link below to let them know what you think.
Please note: This is a different link than the one I posted this spring which involved a questionaire.
Who is everyone's favorite Yankee (who doesn't currently play) of all time? My favorite the Great Yankee Clipper, Joltin' Joe, Joe t-- ok, you get the idea.
Where have you gone, Joe Dimaggio? Our nation turns its lonely eyes on you...
Nope. After a security person witnessed the fishing expedition, Ellison and his 23-year-old son Jeremy were escorted into the park and gave the ball to Bonds and Mays only moments later. Gratis. No greed, but perhaps some memorabilia in appreciation, he hoped.
Very classy, IMO.
Who wore #6 for the Yankees in 1979?
Its a pretty interesting article .
Some of the points made :
A study by the Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport at the University of Central Florida showed the number of Hispanic players has doubled since 1990, up to 29.4% as of last season. Baseball has become "highly dependent" on Latin America, says Adrian Burgos Jr.,...
sorry no link to the story, this is a pay site, (although i'd recommend it as perhaps the most informative daily rag and certainly worth the fee imho) if interested in registerring go to www.wsj.com

Pudge Rodriguez has nowhere to report and it's past catcher reporting time. He seems to think he's going to sign with Florida, Houston, or the Mets
I think pudge might have an idea too

...Yanks Will Win Again"
Braves, Indians, picked for 2nd and 3rd
Major League Baseball fans named the New York Yankees as the team to beat in 1999. Forty-five percent (45%) say that the Yanks will repeat as World Series Champions.
If it's not the Yankees, 15% think the Braves will finally figure out how to cure their post-season blues and win the Championship. Ten percent (10%) think that this will be the Indians big year, No other team was selected by more than 4% of baseball fans....
I don't think anyone's posted a link to this classic piece since the fight on Saturday ... I was gonna do it last night, but the site was down. Some funny stuff here.
And how about this?
Behind Doby, quiet heroine stood guard
Professional sports routinely offer up boisterous, banal, even belligerent incidents and demand that we accept them as bookmarks in American sporting and pop culture.
Dignity and reason, and social and cultural responsibility, too often take a backseat. But on that backseat reside some of the true heroes. When one passes, our sports and our culture are the poorer for...
So remember how Boston was swept last week by the White Sox when the White Sox posted better offensive, defensive and pitching numbers? Did you think that was Clements fault? Or Wells'? Or maybe Varitek, Graffanino, or Damon's fault for leaving bases loaded? Or Grafanino's error?
Or were you silly enough to think the White Sox' clutch hitting and pitching and outstanding relief pitching was the reason?
Well Sam Walker will tell you you're wrong. He says it was the umpiring crew that...
I'm as shocked as you all. The most vocal and blatent Yankee hater at ESPN has turned the corner and decalred "Red Sox Nation" as the most obnoxious and annoying fan base in the country.
Sure he still gets his digs in on the Yankees in this article, but the main point of it is that Sox fans, especially all the new ones since 2004 are annoying and rude...something we can all attest to after seeing any game in Baltimore, Tampa, or sadly NY recently.
