of Course it will be the Yanks. What am I thinking. However the birds and Boston are looking pretty darn good. Tell what ya think what how you percieve the Birds and Boston. Leave the "Yankee Fan" response out and tell me what yua think of the teams. P.S. I would like to adopt the LA Dodgers. How can I go about doing that. What types of stuff do I have to do and who do I have to contact and stuff?? Ansky39 - I hear you are the man at this - What am I to do bro??? ...
Finish this statement, "Rooting for New York is like..." Who were Frank Farrell, "Big Bill" Devery, & Tillinghast L'Hommedieu Huston? What's Wee Willie Keeler's famous line? What is John Anderson famous for? What did Ty Cobb do at Hilltop Park that earned him a suspension and resulted in the first team walkout in baseball history?
Who did Andy Pettitte compete with when he had a 20 game plus winning season??? ------------------ Today. I consider myself the luckiest man on the face the Earth. -Lou Gehrig-
okay, the mutts have gotten their act together and have won 10 out of the last 11 games. they swept the cubbies over the weekend and beat the dodgers in a make-up game yesterday 1-0. Matt Franco hit a single with bases loaded one out in the ninth to drive in the only run of the afternoon. the mutts are now 13-7 and tied with the braves for first place. they take on cinncinati tonight with leiter scheduled to pitch.
It was reported that Nolan Ryan had successful double by-pass surgery yesterday. Apparently, he had been jogging and complained of chest pains and shortness of breath. Doctors claim Ryan DID NOT have a heart attack. Thank God! I'm just glad that one of the game's true legends and a true gentlemen is going to be alright. He's not a bad boxer either. Ask Robin Ventura. :D Hightlights: 324 wins 5,714 strikeouts 7 no-nos Pitched for 27 years and was still throwing well over 90 mph....
Well, the Buccos are off to a dull 6-9 start, with very little exciting news. Their vaunted young pitching staff has been underwhelming, with nominal ace Kris Benson sitting at 0-2 6.89. Team ERA and team BA are in the middle of the pack in the NL, but they're second to last in runs scored. A few of the comparatively bright spots. - RF Brian Giles has 4 HR/15 RBIs - Newly acquired John Vander Wal is hitting .368, largely in a pinch-hitting role - C Jason Kendall is all the way...
Looks like someone opened up a can of Whoop-Ass at the Tigers-White Sox game today.
that's all I gotta say... oh and VLA-DI-MIR, VLA-DI-MIR, VLA-DI-MIR!!! MVP, MVP, MVP!!!! that's right, f' griff, mac and sosa, and my personal alltime non yank fav bonds, Vladimir is the best player in baseball... the kid reminds me of my alltime fav, Gehrig... watch this kid, he'll break alotta records before he's through...
I am making this short, no one cares about my cards anyway:( CARDS R KICKIN SOME MAJOR LEAGUE AZZ. 11-5 Ok, thats it, I am done! :p
I can't always fall in love with the Yanks so I chose the LA Dodgers. There is no way I am going to supprot the Atlanta Braves. Not even if I was a moron! Team = Los Angeles Record = 8-6 PCT = .571 GB = 3 Home = 02-03 Road = 06-03 East = 03-03 Central = 02-03
the mets beat the brewers 10-7 last night and mike hampton recorded his first win of the season. mets were leading 10-2 in the 8th. the brewers scored 3 off hampton and then the bullpen gave up 2 more in the 9th. he pitched 7 2/3 gave up five runs on six hits, walked six and struck out 7. it wasn't a pretty win, but it was a win. after losing his first three starts i get the feeling he and the mets are happy he finally got a win. so he's 1-3 on the season with a 6.33 era. the mets...
Well, who woulda thunk it? The Marlins temporarily reside in first place in the NL East, just a game and a half ahead of last place Philly and the stinking Mets. Gotta love it. Kevin Millar, Mike Lowell, and Mark Kotsay presently have the hot bats. The pitching is slowly coming around, but fielding continues to be a problem, with only the Mets and the Expos having committed more errors, in their division. The Marlins open a three game home stand with Pittsburg tonight, before Philly...
I have quite the dillemia in my fantasy baseball league.. Bobby Jones of the Rival mets just went on the DL.. so that means I have a open roster spot, If I "DL" him. Well I can pick up a pitcher, but there isn't really anyone good.. here are the top relief pitchers left: John Rocker, but he's on Waiver Wire so It would take me at least 6 hrs to get him and thats only IF no-one puts someone in higher rank. Doug Brocail,Jim Mecir, Scott Elerton (DL) and Rich Garces.. or I can go for a starter...
I'm sure you've all heard the theories concerning the impending realignment. Some of the ideas are ludicrous. I've heard everything from dumping the Twins and Marlins to realigning the NL to have 4 divisions with only 3 in the AL. That's even more screwed up logic than we have now. (See Jim's post in this forum for the details.) Here's MY idea: Step 1: Disband the Florida Marlins. Step 2: Move an NL West team say, Arizona, to the AL West. Step 3: Move the Texas Rangers to the AL...
Griff no respect for big red machine. He's crying about not being able to switch to number 24 which is retired by Perez. http://reds.enquirer.com/2000/04/16/red_griffey_about_no_24.html To me this is classic baby griff. Maybe daddy should put him in "time out".
WELL this is the team I picked from ANSKY39 idea. GOOD win yesterday in which MORANDINI got them going, good to see him back where he belong's, just did not look right in a CUBS outfit. WELL they are 2-4 and are going up against the MET'S in a 3 game series, there hitting is pretty balanced, but there starting pitching has been shakey, look for them to take 2 from the METS. ------------------
Owners meet to discuss multiple changes By Gary Brooks SportsLine.com Baseball Editor April 17, 2000 While nine games are played Monday, owners will begin a two-day conference in Houston with discussion expected about changes in interleague play, realignment and the sale of the Royals. A vote on realignment -- which would have the Devil Rays and Diamondbacks switching leagues next season -- was expected to come this week but will now be put off until June at the earliest. The...
These Yanks shared something. What was it? George Selkirk, Allie Clark, Bud Metheny, Cliff Mapes, and Ducky Medwick. ------------------
Frank Thomas was one of the most fearful batters I've seen in a long time. But in the 1998 season even though he had 109 RBI's you knew something was wrong. Having hit in the mid 300's for so long his 265 BA was a clear indication of a problem. Then last year with him being hurt, his head all messed up, and only having 15HR's and 77 RBI's, many figured this was the decline of a great slugger. But after seeing his quotes and interviews, it sounds like Mr. Thomas is on a mission. If he can...
This just in on ESPN: "Baltimore's Cal Ripken got his 3,000th hit Saturday with a seventh-inning single - his third of the game - off the Twins' Hector Carrasco. Ripken became the 24th player to amass 3,000 hits. He began the season nine hits shy of the magical milestone." I don't like the guy but he's paid his dues and deserved to reach that milestone. Congrats Cal. (But I'm glad you didn't do it at the Stadium.) ------------------ - They never should have traded Boomer!
I was watching the Braves/Giants series. Their leadoff hitter, 19 year old Rafael Furcal is awesome! You should see him run, he's really quick (better than that bald guy they had) I think he's cool, like Mo he's from DR. ------------------ "Seventy-five percent of my life is basketball. The other twenty-five percent of my life is my bum. That's where I spend my Saturday nights..." Coach Eric "Jeter" How am I typing? E-mail at: baseball_chelle@Bronx-Bombers.com
Devil Rays acquire RHP Gooden from Houston ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) -- Desperate for pitching help, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays today acquired righthander Dwight Gooden from the Houston Astros for cash considerations. Gooden, a four-time All-Star, was signed by the Astros in January and won a job in the rotation out of spring training. He lasted just four innings in his lone start on Saturday against Philadelphia, allowing four runs and six hits. With Scott Elarton tenatively...

Can I pick a team or what? Damn I am good! If the Cards had won their last game, they would have had their best start EVER, in the whole 108 years! They share the best record in the majors,7-2, with the Indians. The have the most runs scored with 70! And the most homers with 23! 11 Cards player have hit the long ball. 10 players are hitting over .300 they have five players hitting over.400. They lead the majors with a slugging % of .674, on base % of .425, 10 stolen bases, and second in...
