Post anything related to baseball. If it doesn't fit in the Yankees Discussion forum, it fits here.

This thread is yet another year's edition of journaling history in the making. Albert Pujols, the greatest hitter of our generation, has decided once again to start the season as the best player in baseball. As certain as clockwork, he'll end the year the best as well. Pujols launched 2 home runs on opening day (going 4-5). Yesterday, on April 11th, Pujols hit 2 HR including one off of future-HOF closer Trevor Hoffman. Today, Pujols hit another shot, giving him a MLB-leading 5 home runs on...
Enzo Masci. I had a contact from his son (like taking to Babe Ruth Jr) offering to share these photos, so I share them with you. Enzo played for Nettuno and had 12 rings:)
Top 7 teams in baseball (wins). 1. Tampa Bay Rays 2. New York Yankees 3. Toronto Blue Jays 3. Cincinnati Reds 5. Boston Red Sox 5. Minnesota Twins 5. San Diego Padres
LOS ANGELES - A 3-year-old girl's skull was fractured after being hit by a line drive during batting practice at Dodger Stadium. A Dodgers spokesman says the injury is not life-threatening and the girl is scheduled to be operated on Tuesday morning at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. PDT Monday when Dodgers catcher Russell Martin hit a line drive down the left field line. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/37574538/ns/sports-baseball/
AP is reporting that Mariners manager has announced that Ken Griffey Jr. is retiring and its effective immediately
I just read something very interesting on the Blue Jays site and I thought I would just share it because it's very similar to what we had last year with Molina/Burnett. That split is just ridiculous, even more than the split with Burnett last year. What is it about this wonderful catcher that just calms pitchers? I know we didn't have room for him this year but am I the only one that misses this guy? Hit bat stunk, I will admit that but as they always say "Good pitching beats good...
...or did he? Discuss.
Mentioned it in the GT too, since they're playing the Yanks. http://blog.prorumors.com/2010/06/rumors/baltimore-orioles-manager-dave-trembley-fired/ This game against the Yankees is his last. Can't be surprised at this one.

Seems like the second base position in the AL is pretty stacked this year...there are currently 6 starting AL second basemen hitting over .300... Factoring in defense as well as past years' performance and how you project them in the future, choose your top 3 in terms of who you would want starting for your team and why. Here are a few links: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/playerrankings/regularseason/2B ...
---MLBTR Dude was an ace in Houston for years, it will be interesting to see who will be after him. Have to think the Mets will think hard on this one.
After so many "analysts" picked the Tigers to win the division and possibly more, they get swept by the Royals to open the season. Adding insult to injury, Sheffield has a torn tendon in his left ring finger...status unclear. The supposed best lineup in baseball could have just taken a jolt. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080403/SPORTS02/80403063/1048/sports
Very good friend of mine sent me this link Didn't see it posted CLICK :D
Stole this idea from a football board. Your favorite team, presumably the Yankees, but whoever it is, is excluded. My top 5: Orioles - My favorite non-Yankee uniforms. Very sharp, and orange is my favorite color. Mariners - Always liked these since I was a kid, simple and the colors stand out. Royals - Simple, classic, sharp Marlins - Simple, bold colors, and I think they pull off the pinstripes well. One thing I like about both the M's on my top five is the silver outline on...
Its amazing what the difference "27" means to Mets fans (scoreless innings vs Phillies) and Yankee fans (championships) ;) :D :P :)
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/marinersblog/2011785415_milton_bradley_packed_up_left.html There were a lot of things we did not have time to verify after last night's game, mostly because of tight deadlines and the late hour. But piecing it all together this morning, through some further conversations, it's become clear that Milton Bradley packed up and left the ballpark while last night's game was still going on. Bradley was removed from the game after a sixth inning strikeout. It...
It's opening day to the 2010 season...we're already down 2-0 in the third...and we are officially eliminated from AL central contention... I cannot be less excited about the Indians this year--and that's saying alot given past years' teams we've fielded.
So, it seems that I am developing a very healthy dislike for this team and their manager, going back to spring training 2008 when the Tampa player ran over Cervelli and Maddon defended the move saying it was the right way to play. This team is a bit too sure of itself, considering all that they have NOT accomplished in their history. Maddon plays the 8th inning like the first, running even when the team is 7 runs ahead. Now, I wouldn't say I dislike them as much as the Sox, but I respect...
As the Yanks get set to play the Twins, a fan shares a story, from 2003, about finding Roger Clemens’ driver’s license on the floor at LaGuardia. The story took a further twist when both guys were on the same flight to Minneapolis. Clemens was flying ahead of the team, prior to his start in the ’03 ALDS. http://ifollo.com/celebritystory/finding-roger-clemens-drivers-license

To answer the question below and because there should be some chatter about the new owner soon, I started this thread. If there is already one, I apologize. There is a buzz, but it's mostly over the stadium deal, which should be done soon and guarantee a team in D.C. for the next 30 years. Losing some pitching garnered some groans but not everyone noticed. The Soriano deal woke some folks up and it got mostly the desired reaction, that is fooling people into thinking MLB gives a crap...
