Post anything related to baseball. If it doesn't fit in the Yankees Discussion forum, it fits here.
Well deserved. Bravo to the voters for looking past Wins and focusing on his amazing ratios.
Both were pretty deserving but Niemann and Porcello would have seemed like better bets due to their being starters

Costas challenges "The Commish" on several issues including the umpiring issues instant replay, WBC, scheduling, playoff format, McGwire, Rose.
- Felt bad calls in playoffs could have been avoided with more conferences
- Not considering expansion of replay due to game length concerns
- Believes there has been a tremendous response to WBC; Costas challenged pretty hard on this saying fans here cared "100 x" more about ML post season- this had to do with ML schedule being pushed back and...

I'm surprised this one hasn't been created. These clowns called Joe Buck and Tim McCarver really need their own thread for their performance or should I say, lack of. Every post season, it's the same thing: watching the playoffs with the TV MUTED.
I did this last year and some people liked it, so just decided to do it again...

Manny wisely exercised his $20 million player option for 2010. Way to go Manny!
I was justifying CC as my choice in my head predicated on him winning 20 games. However, his bid for #20, he pretty much stank, which in my mind narrowed the AL choices to Zack Greinke, Felix Hernandez and Roy Halladay, and looking at the numbers, Halladay kind of falls by the wayside too.
I did some wee comparisons here: http://www.whyilikebaseball.com/2009/10/if-i-voted-for-the-cy-young-award/
(If there were a "Decade Cy Young" given though, for best pitcher of past 10 years, I'd have...
Just announced by the MLB.com guys during the parade.
2 years $19 million with a vesting option for third.
I can't believe he had the nerve to announce this during the World Series. ;)
Terrible trade by KW.
OK so the the title is misleading, I only have one thing but I'm sure you guys have others. What I can't stand is where they post the pitch speed on TV.
Why do they have to put it over the damn pitch count?? If I look away from the scoreline to watch the delivery and I forget the balls and strikes, all I see is "80 mph". Why the heck wouldn't they post the speed over the outs instead, that doesn't change as much. Am I the only one who gets annoyed about this?
Turns out that CB Bucknor was scheduled to work the WS.
Not sure I'm crazy about Joe West being there but I'm glad MLB at least felt the need to do something.
I was just about to compliment Pedro on a good post game interview. He actually sounded great and was pretty decent the way he described how he pitched and how The Yankees played....then, he goes on to whine about some drunken fan who was cursing him while he had his young daughter next to him. Oh PLEASE! You played for Boston, for goodness sake. They EAT their young up there. What a jerk!
And then he throws in several times how he was under the weather. Yeah, under the Teixeira and...
No, this is not about Mike Scioscia posing nude anywhere.
The media likes to pretend like this guy is a freaking genius, as though he were some master puppeteer pulling the strings ever so gingerly and with such precision to propel his team effortlessly forward.
Well this series shattered that image to all hell. How can anyone think this guy is a good on-field manager after this? For all that we knock Girardi for, at least Girardi would never pinch hit for our hottest hitter with Maicer...
