has anyone else heard he was sent to the minors???
I certainly hope so. From what I saw of him in '99 I think he may be the heir to Brosius at 3rd or even moving him to 2nd and shifting Soriano to 3rd. He seemed to have lots of poise and hit the ball to all fields.
I saw him play for Norwich several times last year and it's great for the kid to get the opportunity to be on the opening day roster.
CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Reds sold pitcher Ed Yarnall to the Orix Blue Wave of the Japanese Pacific League on Monday for $300,000. The left-hander came to the Reds on July 12 from the New York Yankees as part of the deal for left-hander Denny Neagle. The Reds initially considered Yarnall a contender for this year's rotation, but he appeared in only five innings this spring before being sent to the minors. It's the second year in a row that the Reds have sold a pitcher to Japan. They...
Did I dream this, or is Seabol now the record holder for lowest draft pick to ever make the majors? I think it will never be broken - - they don't draft that many rounds any more......... anyone else remember hearing something like that? If it's true, he's my new hero. Maybe we can start a fan club?
does anyone know the best way to keep tabs on the clippers and how nick johnson, henson and all of them are doing this year? is there a website or something that covers the minors in depth? thanks
IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA S.Fernandez 2.0 3 3 3 2 3 1 13.50 I know this season is just starting the team but i thought it was funny.I clicked on "stats" and guess who's leading the International league in walks?
Scot's Intro & Welcome was great and came Well Heard over MSG! Remember He was Mentioned here Earlier (Yankees 88th round Draft Pick of '96) !? Well when Joe put him in! I was Yelling & Cheering from My Armchair at home! And then the Cheering was picked up once his debut announcement was made on the diamondscreen! Wow The Enthusiam was Fantastic!
I notice Morales is still in extended spring and will be assigned to class AA Norwich. Is this because he is out of playing shape, or is he a dud?
Can someone tell me how many years a player can be optioned?I was sure it was 3 untill mcdonald was optioned for the forth time this spring. The papers are saying Spencer has 1 left, so I have no idea
Yankees' Spencer Going to Triple-A Updated 4:02 PM ET April 12, 2001 TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - New York Yankees outfielder Shane Spencer had two infield singles in four at bats during his final extended spring training game Thursday and will join Triple-A Columbus this weekend.
I just did a little research on Donzell. He's a switch-hitting 25 yr. old speedy Center Fielder. He sounds like just what we need right now. He was going to make the roster over H-Rod, but came down with a groin injury (which is now healed). In the Arizona Fall League last year he made the All Prospect List. In 127 AB he hit .354, led the League in hits with 45, 5 triples, 18BB, 18 SB, 29 runs scored with an OBP of .435 and SLG of .543. Why don't we replace H-Rod with Donzell now that...
Spencer Dh'd in Columbus last night and went 0-4 The great Andy Morales is now hitting 160 in AA Ryan Bradley has a 4.91 era in AA Adrian Hernandez's line last night: 6 innings, 2 er, 8 k's- he has 3.24 era this season for Columbus Jimenez is hitting 233 Nick Johnson is hitting 211
Brett Jodie is a big right hander that has been in the yankees system for 3 years, and has pitched well atevery level thus far.He has good stuff and does not rattle under pressure. I believe he will be called very soon.
THE SKY IS FALLING Henson to miss four-to-six weeks with broken hand .c The Associated Press TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - New York Yankees third base prospect Drew Henson is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a broken left hand. Henson was hit by a pitch while playing for Class-A Tampa in a Florida State League game last Saturday. It was first believed Henson's hand was just bruised, but additional X-rays discovered the injury.
I was just wondering, in light of Lily's great performance today, and even El Duquecito's for that matter, what will the Yanks do when Parker is healthy? Maybe let him strut his stuff down(up) at AAA?
Yankees recall LHP Lilly; option RHP Adrian Hernandez April 22, 2001 BRONX, NEW YORK (TICKER) -- Ted Lilly is the third pitcher this season to be given a chance to win the fifth starting spot in the New York Yankees' rotation. Lilly on Sunday was recalled from Class AAA Columbus of the International League and is the starting pitcher in the finale of a three-game series with the archrival Boston Red Sox. Both Christian Parker and Randy Keisler have already failed to win New York's...
Looks like the yanks will finally have a power south paw on their bench soon. NY's Rodriguez Hopes To Begin Rehab TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- New York Yankees outfielder Henry Rodriguez played seven innings in left field during an extended spring training game Monday and hopes to begin a minor league rehab assignment by next week. Rodriguez is currently on the 15-day disabled list with a back strain. He was hurt late in spring training and has not played a regular season game this season. ...
Does anyone have any info on how Drew Henson is doing in the minors. I've looked on the Columbus Clippers page, and he isnt listed. I'd like to know how this kid is doing.
Does anybody know where Rene Pinto is playing now? He was a catcher last year with Norwich (the Yankees AA). I'm pretty sure they resigned him but he's not on any roster. I'm trying to help a friend out but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Thanks. Lisa
Looks like Nick Johnson is starting to get hot. After a slow start, his BA is up to .290 with 4 HR's, a .540 SGP, but with 23 K's in 69 AB's. ( we don't need that) In Trenton last night the Thunder lost to our Norwich Navigators last night 6-3 behing the power hitting od 3B man Andy Phillips ( I wonder why that name is so familiar?) who homered in the 5th for the lead. I dream of him developing into the Yankees Centerfielder by say 2005, with Bernie moving to RF. Please Bernie fans,...
According to today's NY Times: Shane Spencer was activated from the 15-day disabled list and optioned to Class AAA Columbus, a move that was excpected but still disappointed the outfielder, who is coming back from knee surgery. "It's not my choice but I've got to deal with it," Spencer said before the Clippers' game Monday night. I feel for the guy, but daily playing time is for the best right now.
For those interested...this is from Baseball America http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/nickj0430.html
I forgot his name, and it was one of those guys that experts considered "a real find", and that other scouts were thoroughly impressed with as a "watch out for this guy" type of pitcher? His name escapes me, but they said he's a 95mph+ hurler with "closer" stuff. It was somebody that we got in stealth mode and the other teams were oooing and aaaaing. Was I hallucinating? Did I just dream this?
I've recently been following the Columbus Clippers and have been surprised by Carlos Almanzar. He has become their closer and has an era of 0.00. He could be a factor in the near future in the bronx!
