Who's coming up? Who's going down? What's happening with the Yankees Minor League clubs?
What are the odds that he falls in the draft? Boras is demanding 6/50mil for him and that's just unheard of. I also dont buy into his velo readings of sitting at 100 and topping out at 103 with spot on control and great movement.
I wanted to start a thread about great prospects that couldn't live up to expectations in the majors and what people think are the reasons why they couldn't lived up to their expectations that scouts and what scouts overlooked. Some of these guys are still young enough to rebound but so far their major league career has been a disappointment. I've listed a couple that I am curious about. Sean Burroughs (ranked #4 by BA in 2002) Hank Blalock (ranked #3 by BA in 2002) Alex Gordon...
I'm going to start a poll to figure out who the top Yankee prospects are. Basically following the Sickels polling style. We'll do #1 today until we get a consensu, then eliminate that player and start a new pool in a seperate poll thread for #2. If you want to add a player to the pool, vote other then put his name in the thread. IF he gets enough mentions, we'll replace the low man on the totem poll. Guys like Hughes/Rameriez are no longer prospects, since they are no longer...
Nineteen year old, catcher, JR Murphy the Yankees 2nd round pick ($1.25 million bonus) in 2009 has been sent from extended spring training to Charleston in the Sally League. He has started well at 333/467/800, with two doubles and five ribbies in his first four games.<p>Murphy has an excellent reputation for plate discipline and a high baseball IQ. He has received rave reviews from scouts for his pure hitting. So far he is living up to that reputatation.
Per twitter. Sad day even though he always seemed like a longshot due to the injury.
Minor leause season opens tonight. C. Garca goes for Trenton. Who goes for Scranton? ZMac or Nova? Looking forward to it.

From MLB Rumors. Does anyone know who was taken off the 40 men roster to place Chad on it? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/04/padres-designate-chad-huffman-for-assignment.html "Yankees Claim Chad Huffman By Steve Adams WEDNESDAY, 1:28pm: The Yankees claimed Huffman off waivers from the Padres, tweets ESPN's Buster Olney. Crap, missed that there was one already created. Delete please.

Baltz had a homer in St John's home opener yesterday. I will be doing game recaps for all St. John's home games and hoping to get to the ballpark for some games this year. I am also planning on doing a couple features on a few players on the St. John's Baseball team so check out GothamBaseball.com for when they are up. Also, this season I will be part-time minor league writer, while I won't be the regular beat writer for Staten Island I will be contributing.

Just read an article in BA bout 2 DR prospects who pitched for the Rangers given a 2nd chance for a visa after being caught lying about there ages and being married back in 06,o7 . It made me think of the Big hard throwing righty Nelson along with another older prospect of the Yanks who also got caught up in the same investigation....Anyone have info on old Maximo ?
