Who's coming up? Who's going down? What's happening with the Yankees Minor League clubs?
wonder if they're hopin' he gets claimed or really just tryin to outright him down...
First, I'd like to thank silverdsl for the great tutorials! Thanks a bunch, I would have been totally lost if not for you. And I only tanked one roll of film (you never told me to rewind the film before opening the film door ;)).
This is Volume One which features assorted Clippers Players. Volume 2 will contain just Nick Johnson pictures :D.

DH Henry Rodriguez swings and misses
ESPN wrote an article on Nick Johnson, and I want to know what it's all about. If anyone has ESPN Insider, please either post the text of the article, or if you can't, sum it up for us. Thanks!
I knew there had been a lot of discussions recently about prospects. It wasn't until I went through Yankees Discussion and moved all of those discussions to this new forum that I realized how many of them there were!
I'm hoping that this new forum will give some nice separation to the "Nick Johnson vs. Tino" posts. I also hope that this new forum builds excitement and interest in the amazing future stars that the Yankees have in their farm system.
Happy posting! :)
Keisler (L,1-1) 2 1-3 IP, 9 Hits, 8 Runs, 5 Earned Runs, 0 Walks, 0 Strike Outs, 1 Home Run
I wonder if he still thinks he "deserves" to be in the Major Leagues?
I was going through some of my Army stuff.
While I was in there was a single A team in the town who played the Yankees Greensboro team.
I was always by far the loudest dude in the park when the Bats came in (louder than any ten others).
Anyway, I'm going through a box of stuff and I come across two baseballs with Nick Johnson, D'angelo Jimenez, Domingo Jean and a few others that I'm trying to figure out.
Has the SI Yankees season started?
Here are two pics of D'Angelo signing autos prior to the game. He was the only one of the Clippers that I saw doing this, and he spent a good 10 minutes out there. I didn't ask him for one, I just said "como esta D'Angelo" - he said "bien" and smiled. I'll take that over an autograph any day...
Nick Johnson fouls a ball off at the plate
Nick Johnson prepares to swing at a pitch
Nick Johnson getting set at first base in anticipation of the pitch
Nick Johnson holding the runner on at first
It's on 623 if you have Directv. NESN. It's the fourth inning and Keisler is on the mound.
Sorry for being late, but I just found it. Check it out!!
Does anyone know anything about this guy? He's playing OF for the Clippers and his numbers so far are really impressive:
PLAYER AVG G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB SLG% OBP%
------ --- - -- - - -- -- -- -- --- -- --
Perez .328 28 116 18 38 72 7 3 7 23 3 21 6 .621 .358
He's had 477 AB with Tor., Sea., and Mon. since '94, batting .256 with 8 HRs. His best season in the bigs was with Tor. in '96, when in 202 ABs he batted...
So, someone asked about Carlos Almanzar earlier on and I couldn't find him on any roster for some reason. But he's on Columbus, 8.1IP, 3H, 6 saves, 3BB, 7SO, 0.00 ERA....not too bad!
hey i went to the colombus game today and saw spencer and nick johnson. they look good. johnson bobbled some balls but recovered in time for the outs. He also hit a home run his first time up. Spencer had maybe one play in outfield. But hes batting is lookin good:-) i stood only a few inches away from them on the ondeck circle. there really nice guys as are the rest of the team. heck the whole team looked good. :-)
I went to see the Norwich Navigators play at the New Haven Ravens Friday night. Remember Ryan Bradley? He allowed 7 runs in 1 inning plus (very wild, 2 BB and a HBP in the second). On a positive note, Andy Morales, the Cuban import, played third base. Very friendly guy, talked to him very briefly before the game. He looks very good in the field, got one hit and was robbed of another. Stump Merrill looked the same. Note on the Ravens, their pitching coach is Dave LaPoint!
SPORTSTICKER'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE LEADERS
THROUGH MONDAY, APRIL 30
(MINIMUM 62 PLATE APPEARANCES)
Shane Spencer and Nick Johnson both did great as did lefty Keisler who pitched an outstanding nine inning shut out with only one walk and one hit in the seventh . He retired 27 of 29 and had 8 innings of 3 up & 3 down!!!! ;)
I've recently been following the Columbus Clippers and have been surprised by Carlos Almanzar. He has become their closer and has an era of 0.00.
He could be a factor in the near future in the bronx!
I forgot his name, and it was one of those guys that experts considered "a real find", and that other scouts were thoroughly impressed with as a "watch out for this guy" type of pitcher? His name escapes me, but they said he's a 95mph+ hurler with "closer" stuff. It was somebody that we got in stealth mode and the other teams were oooing and aaaaing.
Was I hallucinating? Did I just dream this?
For those interested...this is from Baseball America
According to today's NY Times:
Shane Spencer was activated from the 15-day disabled list and optioned to Class AAA Columbus, a move that was excpected but still disappointed the outfielder, who is coming back from knee surgery. "It's not my choice but I've got to deal with it," Spencer said before the Clippers' game Monday night.
I feel for the guy, but daily playing time is for the best right now.
Looks like Nick Johnson is starting to get hot. After a slow start, his BA is up to .290 with 4 HR's, a .540 SGP, but with 23 K's in 69 AB's. ( we don't need that)
In Trenton last night the Thunder lost to our Norwich Navigators last night 6-3 behing the power hitting od 3B man Andy Phillips ( I wonder why that name is so familiar?) who homered in the 5th for the lead.
I dream of him developing into the Yankees Centerfielder by say 2005, with Bernie moving to RF.
Please Bernie fans,...
Does anybody know where Rene Pinto is playing now? He was a catcher last year with Norwich (the Yankees AA). I'm pretty sure they resigned him but he's not on any roster. I'm trying to help a friend out but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Thanks.
Does anyone have any info on how Drew Henson is doing in the minors. I've looked on the Columbus Clippers page, and he isnt listed. I'd like to know how this kid is doing.
Looks like the yanks will finally have a power south paw on their bench soon.
NY's Rodriguez Hopes To Begin Rehab
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- New York Yankees outfielder Henry Rodriguez played seven innings in left field during an extended spring training game Monday and hopes to begin a minor league rehab assignment by next week.
Rodriguez is currently on the 15-day disabled list with a back strain. He was hurt late in spring training and has not played a regular season game this season.
Yankees recall LHP Lilly; option RHP Adrian Hernandez
April 22, 2001
BRONX, NEW YORK (TICKER) -- Ted Lilly is the third pitcher this season to be given a chance to win the fifth starting spot in the New York Yankees' rotation.
Lilly on Sunday was recalled from Class AAA Columbus of the International League and is the starting pitcher in the finale of a three-game series with the archrival Boston Red Sox.
Both Christian Parker and Randy Keisler have already failed to win New York's...
