OK, by the results of our poll, it looks like our auction will be taking place on Monday, March 7th, as it is the only day that we will have the requisite number of people to fill the league. I encourage everyone to purchase AT LEAST one magazine, as well as use other sources like the net, and RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH. It is very difficult to just show up to an auction cold and be successful, so the more you look into projected dollar values for guys and couple that with who YOU think...

The Auction is the most intense and important part of this league. It is what you do a ton of research for before the season. Yes you want Jeter, but how much are you willing to pay for him? $26? What if you're at $25 and someone raises you to $26, do you go past your limit and bid $27? The Auction is going to be a great and fun time, but it is crucial that everyone is there; its not like a draft league where if you don't show up your team gets drafted a default roster. Fantasy Auctioneer seems like a very good option for us, seeing as we are trying to have our auction move swiftly. I had an amount sitting up there from the previous player up for bid - Miguel Cabrera I believe, who's price exceeded $20 so quickly, I never submitted it. Man I had a great time last night getting hammered and drafting. First time in an auction I think I'm pretty happy with how I did. Thank you Snatch, and thanks to the rest of you for making it fun! I'd like to apologize to you all for the mess-up early on, I hope you can understand that my bid of 45$ for Beltran was a mistake. I was typing in the chat and when I hit enter it went +1 instead. The auction was a lot of fun (even if it ended so late...) When will we be able to see the results?

OK...I was bored on the train. So I took my printout of the draft results and plugged in the roto values for each player. For this I used Sportsline's values, and where there was no value, gave the player a value of $1. In a couple of cases I consulted Rotowire, because Sportsline did not rank players who qualified only as a DH. The list only takes into account team value. It doesn't matter if you spent the full $260, or only $232, since (1) We don't get scored on how much value you got for...

Okay, Kevin (Soriambi) is a long time member of this board and he's always been Kevin. Kevin (Snatch) on the other hand, is the commish of this league and deserves to keep his name as well. How do we clarify these two guys? We need something because I'm so used to doing the first name thing I don't want to unpersonalize my posts with user names..... Do one of you go by Kev at all?

Please see this thread regarding adding and dropping players. As per the constitution...adding and dropping players is not allowed prior to opening day (April 3, 2005). Please drop Gil Meche and re-sign Juan Rincon. (Those other transactions you see either corrected roster omissions, or reversed transactions that were not allowed prior to April 3, 2005).

Could we all refrain from adding and dropping players until after Kev has updated the dollar values in our rosters? I think it would help him, since he has to lookup the values of everyone and manually add them, and if the rosters are not the same it could cause some confusion. Also, it appears some players that should have been on people's rosters have been missed. Hopefully when he adds the dollar values, he'll catch all his misses.

Since this is a new league, and people are still getting used to who everyone is, it would be helpful to either put your team name in your title, or your sig. (we usually do this in the original league, too.) I started.

I noticed that we were able to draft the following: 1B 2B SS 3B MI CI On my roster, I have a 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, and MI. No CI. When I picked up Nomar this morning by accident I was going to move one of my guys to CI and put him at MI. But it said my roster was invalid.

We'll use this as a trading block of sorts. Maybe not so much to flesh out deals, but moreso to put out feelers as to the leagues interest in some of your players, or for you to covet another man's assets (Steve, I'm talking about players ;) ). All my minor leaguers are valued at $10. They should be valued at $5, shouldn't they?
