I guess you should discuss football in here.
With the offseason starting, lets move on from 2006 and get ready for the 2007 NFL Season. Obviously there are a lot of pressing needs on the defensive side of the ball.
The LB Corp is paper thin. Pierce is the only returning starter. Blackburn will return, as well as Wilkinson. What will the front office do to replace Arrington and Emmons (thank God he's gone).
Here is what Reese has done since the major cleanup a few weeks ago. A 2nd round tender has been placed on Gibril Wilson. A...
The combine is going on, free agency begins Friday, the draft is April 26th-27th.
The two biggest question marks (right now) on the radar are Gibril Wilson and Kawika Mitchell. Michael Strahan won't make his decision until March.
Will this ride be as bumpy (and enjoyable) as the 2007 roller coaster?
I want to put last season in my rearview mirror. I was happier after the 1992 season.
The Pats have 2 # 1s and will likely reap from the league's bag of compensatory picks on Day Two of the Draft. The team has about $20-25 mil of cap space and has some major holes on defense to fill. I'm hoping that the team's goal is to build a foundation of youth on defense, the secondary and LB corps in particular. The 2007 draft is a great place to start. Some shrewd under the radar FA signings of...
Figured we'd kick it off with an article from ESPN.com about a potential J-E-T-S draftee...
Sure, today really really sucked, and it will take a while for many of us (myself included) to get over it. :(
But, we're a darn good football team, and this team gave us one heck of a 2008. We WILL be back in 2009, and hopefully we'll bring back Jacobs, let Gilbride go, and bring in a good WR and LB (either through the draft, free agency or both).
So none the less, I am still proud to be a Giants fan, and go Giants (and I'll be sure to at least wear some sort of Giants garb tomorrow)!
How will Big Blue bounce back (say that 5x fast) from the crushing defeat in the playoffs? Will Lavar Arrington choose the G-men and will it be a fair deal for both parties?
What are our odds to repeat as champs of, arguably, the toughest division in the NFL?
All this and more can be found below. :D
New York vs Boston for the first time ever on a neutral site.
Do I need to say more? :D GO GIANTS
May as well.
As the Dallas Cowboys fanbase within the NYYFans community continues to grow, this can be the place where we talk about them, since, well, I bring them up a lot, and people always reply, whether with coherent discussion or incoherent drunken mockery. :gulp:
Whether you love them or love to hate them, the reality is that YOU care about the Cowboys, even if it's only like Sox fans care about the Yankees.
So discuss away...
Now that the new CBA is in place, it's time to welcome in the new NFL Fiscal Year with a new Pats thread. If the Pats win the Super Bowl for 2006, they would have won 4 in 6 seasons, the equivalent of the Steel Curtain Steelers of the 1970s. So, the Dynasty ain't over yet.
Since the official weekly schedules aren't due till after the draft, here's a list of the Pats Home/Away opponents for 2006...
New York Jets
Well, like it or not, each week you will be getting my Jets analysis.
We started off the season with a win so I'm happy. First I'll start with the positives. Chad looked like the MVP QB that he is although he had 2 bad throws on 3rd downs. I'm not worried about that though because everyone has a couple and now that it is out of his system, he will be fine. He also threw the ball deep and accurately connecting with Jonathan Carter for a 41 yard touchdown. Chad finished up...
I figured we might as well start a new one for the new year.
Figured we could use a thread for assorted games, such as the one in ITL.
It all starts tonight, with the Hall of Fame game between the Colts and Redskins. :gulp:
Football's back! :D
I do wish tonight's game didn't conflict with the Yankees, but I'll still try and catch a few plays.
KC Joyner kicks off this thread...
Ok, there's only a few of us here, but what do you think of Gibbs naming Brunell the starter after one week?
It's the lesser of two evils for me I guess. It's hard to endorse one Qb over the other, but I guess Brunell will make less mistakes and let the "D" win games.
I'm surprised that there's no official New York Giants thread, considering that this is a New York Yankees forum, plus there's already threads for the Jets and Patriots. So I'll start a 2005 Giants thead.
The Giants lead the Arizona Cardinals 35-19 with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter in the first game of the 2005 season.
Sorry Mecca, but I can't allow a Bills fan to start a Pats thread. ;)
Anyway, I'm back (yes Jason, the Minutemen will be looking to make another serious playoff run in NYFFFL.).
I want to start with sharing with you some quotes from a poster from the ESPN Boards who refers to himself as NEInsider.
On Jerod Mayo:
The new NFL year has officially begun. It's time to look towards the 2007 season.
Rumor was the Jets tried to trade for Joey Porter before he was released. I guess the Steelers were asking for too much. I'd really like to see us go after him now that he's a free agent, as it appears that Adalius Thomas will be going to San Francisco.
Signing Porter would remind me of when Parcells signed Cox in 1998. Both are outspoken leaders who can talk the talk AND walk the walk. We needed to...
HERE WE GO, Folks!!! :gulp:
Please don't let Pittsburgh win it all again, Arizona.
Jamie started the 2009 thread about an hour after the '08 season ended, so this is late in comparison. Besides, this past season was a disaster, so out with the old and in with the new. I'm ready to put it behind me.
Though it's still far off, the Giants will be at a crossroads in the 2010 season. I expect there to be some offseason changes, but the Super Bowl XLII meal ticket has officially expired. This thing can go one of two ways, and it's quite simple: either they'll get back on...
Might as well...
