did you try on this one Trish?

this is the one I was talking about. :)

Vicki - sometimes those sites sell them slightly irregular and that can just cause problems with bras if they aren't quite right.

Oh I thought you meant the other one you linked. No I didn't try that one on. I like a slight padding.

I despise you. I tried on 15 bras the other night.

And it's getting desperate now...I have only one that fits me, even though it makes me itch intensely. My husband put the other one that fit in the dryer. It fried.

I guess I should be happy that JP is possibly unaware that we own a dryer or what it might be used for! At least he's not frying my bras!

There is padding in it. Three different types, for support on the sides, to prevent spillover, and to prevent nipple show through. It fills the normal gaps that form from how the bra pushes your boob.

OK, ladies on the subjects of bras - do you make an effort to wear matching bras and panties? I always find it strange when my wife wears a beige bra with a different color pantie. It doesn't seem to bother her.... although to me it's like wearing two different color socks.

I don't. The laundry never seems to work out that way. Although if I'm wearing it for a purpose...wink wink nudge nudge, then yeah, the lingerie matches.

I don't always match bra and panties, but I try to have them match what I'm wearing. For instance, today I'm wearing a red and black check suit with a black turtleneck, so I have a black bra and red panties.

Yes this is kind of what I do--I like to have stuff match my clothes. I do this with makeup a little too and even fragrance (I have no idea how I assign colors to fragrance though  ).

When I'm not feeling great about my body (like now) I'm not so concerned with wearing stuff that's sexy but I still like cute colors and stuff. But I'm not exactly prancing around in sexy lingerie when I feel this way! :D

I went out with 2 of my doc friends last night - one's an ob/gyn and one is a derm. omg....the stuff we talked about....and the ahem, contest we have going in April.....:o

Anyway, they say ladies that come in to see them usually either hide their clothes or they keep them on top of their clothes on the chair and they are matching! We decided that women only do that when they know they are going to the doctors. Who else matches??

And the panties conversation we had was hysterical.

On the way out my friend saw her patient who recently had a hist (done by my friend) and she was not supposed to be out. Her patient had the most sheepish look on her face when she saw her. It was very funny.

I only match when I have a purpose (;)) and then I typically go the black route. As much as I love, love, love sexy underwear, it's just not always comfortable for me on an everyday basis. Plus, I have all sorts of crazy color underwear and more "basic" colored bras. I could use more lingerie too, but unfortunately I have no use for it at the moment :(.

Trish, I've seen those Perfect One commercials too and I'm a VS whore. Do you know if they're thicker or thinner strapped because I can't tell from the commercials. I wear a lot of tank tops and layer, so I tend to prefer thinner straps... but I'm glad they have the padding and the push-up because I love that.

It's a tiny bit thicker than my other bras. A tiny bit.

Actually I may be having a change of heart. By the end of the day, I was uncomfortable. I think maybe because I'm not used to underwires anymore. Also, I think I need to go down one size. I have it closed on the tightest setting and it shouldn't be. It should close on the loosest, and then as they stretch out you tighten them. If this thing stretches at all I'm not going to have any way to tighten it up.

He just doesn't think that stuff matters.

Oh no, my hubby is definitely not like that - I don't know if he cares about things matching (I set his clothes out so he doesn't go to work in things that don't work together, so it's possible he doesn't even know what matching is - kinda like the dryer and the dishwasher  ), but he definitely likes seeing me in cute little things, matching or not. ;)

So remember how I mentioned that our family friend was going into the hospital for a bone marrow transplant? What's up ladies?
Finally done with all my training ... just got back from Austin yesterday. Have to say I wasn't all that impressed with the town, but it may be that I really didn't want to be there at all. And the coworker I went with was a big PITA! I couldn't wait to get the heck home.

Vicki - I am definitely interested in going to a game - any day and either day/night is okay by me. My only limitation is if I have to do strike duty.

Kim - so glad to hear the good news about your coworker that got the transplant!

Welcome back, Dawn!

Where was your training? I know our office there is on "Mo-Pac Expressway" or something equally dumb-sounding. And that would totally annoy me if I had to travel with someone I couldn't stand. When I was over in the UK for work years ago I had to drive around to customer appointments with this idiot I could not stand at all...

Now that the snow and ice have melted my schedule will be running 4x a week and weight work outs 2x a week. It changes depending on my schedule and the kids schedule but for now that's it. When I was laid off I ran at least 5 days a week and I loved it - running puts me in a good frame of mind and gets me off to a good start for the day. Work, unfortunately gets in the way. :(

Good news on your friend having the bmt! Just be guarded....he/she still has a long long way to go. Say prayers. :)

I got it. I think everyone is just happy he's getting out of the hospital, although his wife knows that she has a lot of work to do now. It's my mom's best friend's husband, so she's been staying with her friend during this so my dad is very happy to get my mom "back" too.

And that pocketbook is disgustingly expensive and not even that great. WTF?

Yeesh - I cannot imagine spending five figures on a bag, and I love pocketbooks! And it isn't even that nice-looking! The $595 one and the $850 one on the row below are really pretty, though (not that I'm buying either of those anytime soon! )

Training was just outside downtown - off 35 - Ben White Road or something to that effect.
I thought my coworker was okay until I had to spend too much time with him. An annoying little turd. He was kinda creeping me out.

And Kim - I think if it was a little warmer and I had been there on a Thu, Fri, or Sat night it would have been fun. We went downtown Sunday and Tuesday night and it was dead. And I was a bit uncomfortable with all the people asking for $$ - couldn't go a block without being asked. I felt safer walking around the Bronx.

I need to start working out again - I am feeling blech. Need to get motivated.

OK, ladies on the subjects of bras - do you make an effort to wear matching bras and panties? I always find it strange when my wife wears a beige bra with a different color pantie. It doesn't seem to bother her.... although to me it's like wearing two different color socks.

I love nice lingerie and always wear matching bras and panties. I usually stick with neutral colors, though, like nude or natural, with a few exceptions.

That is an alligator bag which is why it is so expensive. I agree that you would have to be nuts to carry it around in public since someone could grab it off of you. I saw a woman being robbed of her purse once and the poor woman ended up in the hospital with a dislocated shoulder just trying to keep her bag!

My hairstylist went up to $90- (not tip - ha...) for a freakin cut. Can you believe that?!?! I mean, this is not 5th Ave. I am so annoyed.

I hate trying to find someone new - and now it's been about 4 months I think since I've gotten my hair cut.

It's too bad too - I've been going to her for years!! She is one of my good friends but this is ridiculous. And I blame most of it on the owner of the salon - how greedy. Apparently she's doing well from what I've heard so obviously people (rich people) are still going to her. I'm very sad about this......:(

Wow. You know, I am not sure what my stylist charges for just a cut (I always get the whole shebang done at once) but I don't think it's that much. However, the salon is moving to a better location and I wonder how that will affect prices. :( I have an appt Tuesday--I *think* at the old place--and I am going to snoop about stuff while I am there. Once they move they will probably send coupons...I hope.

Well when I started going to her it was $50- I think, then $60-, $70- and I was paying $80- but this is just out of control. It doesn't work anyway because she has cut her hours to a few days a week till like 3pm, she works no nights and no weekends. :thatsodd: pfffttt.....

I'm so annoyed though. I guess I can start going to the girl that she has been training. Her price is $50- for a cut even though she's brand new, she's been trained by my other girl for 1 year. I guess that's what I'm going to do.

Ooooh ladies!! Last spring/summer I was looking for these sandals I saw in Marshall's, where they only had 1 half of a pair of 8 1/2s. I looked high and low for them and couldn't find them, except online for like $100.

Well this morning, I thought of them, and Googled, and lo and behold there they are on Overstock.com! I'm so psyched. They're purty and comfortable.

I have been stepping out on my hairdresser. She runs a pricey saloon. I feel so comfortable with her. I just let her do whatever she wants with my hair and it wows people.

Our ecconomic situation has changed like so many people. I want to continue with my finacle commitment to daughters education, continue funding my 403 B and build up my stock portfolio when I can.

So I now get my hair cut at Super cuts. When I told my bestfriend she wanted to know if I was being punished. I told her no, sometimes you do what you have to do. She is suspect.

Andrea is wonderful. She is new out of school and I love her. I make and appointment with her. Also bear in mind if you know the value of a good cut tip like you were paying more. You still end up ahead and that stylist will remember you. Guess people don't tip well at Super Cuts.:o

Pricey Saloons are getting hit hard. I can't be the only one who is cutting back on hair, take out, coffee, and yes..........shoes.:(

Truth is you will never regret spending money on shoes. Buy better shoes and they will last. This year I will probably not buy one pair. Thank God I love all the ones I have. Next year I will buy a pair I love and not care about price.:o

I heard the hairdressers at my salon chatting about how business is down; and I go to a very nice salon (it's one of 3 that are popular with people where I live). My cuts are $70, used to be $60; but I don't go that often and I've been going to my hairdresser since I was 10, so it's hard to stop. If she ever raised her price to $90, I'd probably ask her for someone else who charges less (she owns the salon and they do employ some "junior stylists" who I think cost $50 or so).

I know someone who went to SuperCuts once and they mauled her hair. It was hair battery . (It was just a really really really bad cut).

My hairdresser is still relatively inexpensive but as her prices have creeped higher and higher, I find myself getting my haircut less and less often. I did the math and while she's charging me more per cut, she's making less off me over the course of a year.

Me too. And my friend that's a hairdresser said clients are doing just that - spreading their cuts and colors another week or so or just getting a quick bang trim instead of a cut to stretch out the time. I wish I could do it with my color but I can't. I am definitely doing that with my cuts though.....I can go much longer than the suggested 6 weeks or whatever it is they recommend.

Sad story ladies. I wish I could do something about this situation but I don't know what....

The 25 y/o I told you about that I work with....the one who is manic/bipolar...well, she told me of a situation with her sister who lives in Texas with approx. 7 or so kids. She told me the one who is 8 y/o was hospitalized last week for suicide. After picking myself up off the floor I asked questions. Apparently he is forced to visit her ex-husband for the summer each year (the biological father I guess) and he abuses the child. When it comes time to visit him he starts going into an anxiety phase (gee, ya think?) and this is the 2nd time he has tried to kill himself. I asked a million questions but apparently the child has not said anything to anyone but the mother and from what I'm told, they are not taking her word for it....which pisses me off because obviously if the kid is attempting suicide, there is something very wrong with what's going on in this "summer home" with the father. :( :( I've been thinking about it quite a bit and wish I could do something about this. I feel terrible for this little boy and the situation makes me sick to my stomach. :upset:

If the father abuses the kid, the mom needs to get back into court immediately regarding the custody of the child; and the child needs to talk to the Family Court in the most private, safe manner possible. Because if a very very young child is trying to kill himself, something is very wrong.

That is so terrible and heart-wrenching. I'd contact CPS right away, if you can get the name of the boy and his mother, as well as their address. They'll have to know where to find them.

When I worked as an SMI case manager, I was a mandated reporter. I had one client tell me that her sister, with whom she and her mother and her daughter lived, would beat her and her daughter. I had to call adult protective services (after consulting with the psychiatrist who was responsible for her care) and CPS on this client's sister. APS went out and did a visit, but called me back to say that the client denied the whole story, so there was nothing they could do. (I was so angry that she denied it after telling me all about it, and how she was terrified to be at home, but she suffered from severe depression and wasn't making the best choices.) CPS said they didn't have enough info to do a visit about the child. It's a difficult thing to do, but I hope you can help this kid. No 8-year-old should be considering suicide much less attempting it. :( :(

Edit: Here's the link for the Texas Dept. of Family and Protective Servics (DFPS) abuse hotline.
http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Contact_Us/report_abuse.asp

Sadly, I fear that with so many states cutting their budgets, more kids (and vulnerable adults) are going to get hurt. My cousin who lost her job last week worked for an agency that contracts with the state. Her job was to monitor visits for children that had been removed by CPS. They didn't have the money in the budget, so they cut in an area where children are at risk. They already won't touch them unless they're in a beyond horrific situation, and it's just going to get worse. Yet driving all over AZ and NM this week, I saw road construction everywhere. Isn't the safety of these children and elderly people (and other vulnerable adults, like the ones with whom I worked) more important than widening the roads?? I'm obviously not a big fan of gov't intervention in virtually any area, but we're talking about abuse. :upset:

ugh.....thanks for the info Jenn. I am really going to try and have this woman I work with talk more to her sister. I really don't want to call because I think it could get awkward at work - even though SOMEONE needs to call. It really should be his mother or the aunt (the woman I work with). I don't know anything about her sister except for these stories she has told me. I was told she purposely searched for someone on a online dating service in South Carolina because she wanted to move there...sure enough, she found this army guy and they married (in SC) but ended up in Texas. I guess he just got back from overseas and is on disability for trauma now or something. Effed up story all around....esp with these kids they have. :(

Trish, very cute shoes!

Vick, I have found a woman at the mall salon who cuts my hair really nice. Only $15! I do the color myself. Even after I had my hub's cousin color it, I didn't like it, so I am back to doing it myself.

That's terrible about the kid. I hope something can be done to help him.

I am a Great Clips girl - $12 a cut - can't beat it - I am not getting any sort of fancy cut - pretty much a bob with a lil bit of layering, so it works for me.
And I have gone back to coloring my own hair. About every other color, I throw some highlights in.
After doing it a few times (highlights), it really isn't that hard.
When looking for ways to cut costs, these are some things that I felt okay not going highend. I kept the monthly massages :D - but I think that's getting cut after next month, too :(

Vicki - good luck helping out with your co-workers nephew. That's a really tough situation - I feel terribly for him.

Vicki that story is really upsetting. :( I hope the sister can do something or someone calls protective services down there.

On the hair topic--I'll be forking over a pretty penny tomorrow for my bimonthly tune up...

I've been doing my nails myself lately though...but I'll be getting a pedicure this week sometime so my feets look OK when I'm in Florida next weekend. I have not had a pedi since my visit to the spa with my sister in Denver in January.

Are you going to be down in the Keys? We're cruisin' down to Marathon early Saturday for the Seafood Festival...Spend the better part of the day & back up to spend the night at my friends house in Homestead. Sunday morning we'll head back up to Miami for Calle Ocho...
Haven't been to Islamorada since early November...I'm waaaaaay overdue. Ready for some 'Keys Disease'......:D (and yes...I takin' a vacation day on Monday...;)

No thinkin', just drinkin'! :gulp: Lucky!!

Sadly no, no Keys this time; I've actually been loudly lamenting the fact that we haven't been down there in a couple of years now. We're staying in Sarasota with the bf's mom--just visiting for a long weekend. I'm determined to catch a ST game too--the Pirates train in Bradenton and are playing there Monday, and we need to visit my uncle there too....

Where have YOU been, funky Gringa? :D

I have been 3x. The first time she followed my previous cut. Next time trim and highlights. The next time a funky cut.

Now I don't let her have her way with my hair yet but ........soon.

I love the price. I will probably be saving more than 1/2 and I will not have to stretch out my visits. Also I won't have to DIY. That would be scary.

The slight shift in the weather lately has me thinking about spring clothes and open-toed shoes. I really need to make some wardrobe updates this year and it's gotten hard for me to find clothes that I think are "age appropriate" yet not boring. So I end up in the same, generic, boring type of things. Sure they're what's considered "classics" but that's really just a synonym for dull most of the time. It has it's place but eh. Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like you're ready for Florida. :)

I did the same before i left last weekend..and while we were there, we went to the spa on Sunday before we flew out -- it was amazing. I got a massage but I also got this herbal wrap -- my skin feels like a baby even with a tan and not applying lotion vigilantly. :) It was good to get rid of that dead skin from the winter heating.

Here's the description of the aloe wrap thing:

Hydrating Aloe Wrap 50 Min $95
This is the perfect hydrating treatment for dry, sun exposed skin. Pure algae blended with aloe vera is warmed and applied with essential oils of choice to create this fast absorbing therapy which soothes the body. Drift peacefully as you enjoy a luxurious scalp, foot and hand massage.

btw -- that spa is in the next town from Tampa where the PHillies' ST is and the girl at the pool bar there said that Jimmy Rollins visits there a lot as well as some other Phillies players...this time I was glad I didn't meet any of them as I was sitting at the bar with just my robe on and nothing underneath. :D

Clearwater? I think that's where they train...

That sounds like some of the stuff they did the place my sister and I went to in Denver--they also had some kind of a bar thing there I believe.

Tonight I think I'll just get a regular pedicure; also the bf gave me a gift card from my regular place for Christmakkuh so I don't even have to spend money except for the. My calluses are not so bad since I recently tried out my new Ped-Egg.

It's actually Safety Harbor which is either a subsection of Clearwater or Clearwater surrounds it...yup, that's where they train. :) Toronto is really close too in Dunedin (sp?).

I love gift cards for spa treatments. :) I don't have any calluses but my feet get more dry in the winter so I got this really hydrating pedicure which was probably too much money but I only get that one every March and then get the regular spa pedi. :)

I've used that Ped-Egg thing too because I'm obsessed with my feet being smooth! :D

I feel like I have so much to do to get ready for this trip and we are only going for four days. One thing I need to do is check out Walgreens around here. I remember Trish saying she had seen Snuggies there. The bf wants to get one for his mom! She sits and reads/watches TV in a Lazy Boy-type chair and is cold a lot.

I asked.....they actually glue one eyelash to your own eyelash making them look very thick and pretty - it lasts for 6-8 weeks or something like that. Some of my friends have them and they really look great. But F that....not only is it too expensive but I'd never have the patience to sit there while she glued one eyelash at a time to my own eyelashes. Thank God for Maybelline!:)

so, they don't need to use mascara? if it lasted longer, I might consider it..

No mascara I'm told. My friend said she'd do it for $120 if I decide. I doubt I'll do it. I just don't have that kind of money these days. I guess I'd consider it if you didn't have to have the touch-ups in 6 weeks or so after - I think that's what she called it.

Danielle - i'd give you a run for your money for the mascara whore title...we should compare notes :D When they discontinued that one, I ordered a ton of them off some drugstore on line but I've run out...I tried at least 20 different ones before I settled on the Tarte..I tried a Diorshow one -- it had an odd smell and I liked it but didn't love it..gave it to my sister and she loved it but she would never spend $25 on a mascara so I buy one for her every so often...

I'm going to try the LashBlast one and try it as a cheaper backup..I always went maybelline over Covergirl but I'll try it. :)

what I like about the Tarte one is that it's conditioning and gives you length and fullness with a great brush. If you ever want to try it, I've used the regular and waterproof and both are good..it has the strangest packaging -- it's called Lights, Camera, Lashes:

Ohhhhh, I am tempted to spend the money once for the aforementioned college reunion, as long as I don't look like some sort of mange-ridden hage during the lash-shedding stage, b/c I sure as shootin' wouldn't have them touched up. I am, however vain enough to do it once for one weekend.
I wonder where I can get them done around here.

Hmmmmmmmm.

So I bought a pair of apple green suede ankle boots with a little kitten heel. Love.
Also a pair of black patent leather ankle boots with killer pointy toes and stiletto heels (but fairly low.) They are very nice boots and were both under $20.00 each. I love Building 19.

Even though they say no mascara is needed, I don't buy it. My eye shadow powder coats my lashes and then they're not black anymore. I'd want to use mascara after the shadow. So what would be the point?

Maybe for everyday it would be ok, since I don't use shadow every day.

I've seen the ads for the eyelashes where I get my nails done, but I dunno...I have pretty good lashes anyway, and I'd be scared of looking like Liza Minnelli if I had fakes! And I agree with Trish - I'd get eyeshadow on them and still put on masacara anyway (and then I'd definitely have that Liza thing going! :scared: ) Although looking 10 years younger is an appealing thought! As far as the $125 eyelash treatment - F that, I can barely remember to use eye cream, eyelash treatment would just be one more thing for me to forget and feel guilty about forgetting!

Jeanne - you have no calluses?!? How is that even possible? My feet look like they went through a war and I get pedi's fairly regularly - I've been squishing them into heels for so many years that they are just a mess.

I almost died when I logged on and a big stop sign appeared. 6 more months to go! There isn't one sports related site I can go on. When I first started I used to log onto Comcast and check my home e-mails. Well a new filter was put on a few weeks ago (there are 850 employees where I work). Much to my dismay I can't even check my home e-mails anymore either.

 Mine were really bad when I first starting getting pedicures from years of sports..that's when they were still allowed to use the razors so you know that was a LONG time ago. :D Ever since, I don't really have calluses -- probably because I don't wear super high heels -- I broke both my ankles and they're not great with super high heels (the originally said I'd never be able to wear them) so that may be why too...

I am more bothered by some cracking heels in the past couple of years especially in the winter...I asked the podiatrist and he recommended a drugstore product that he said was even better than any prescription..if any of you ladies want to try it, it's called Heel Balm by Flexitol and it really works and i've tried everything. :D

Danielle, check in online and print your boarding passes with Southwest as close to 24 hours in advance as you can. They organize seating by group A, B or C and then by number within each group. You want to be in that first group to get a better seat. And for your return, use the hotel business center or ask the desk to let you do the same there.

Hey bot or anyone who is familiar with Southwest:

I checked in online and we are in group A. Do they restrict people from taking the bulkhead or exit row seats?

I've been meaning to try this new Loreal mascara. It's supposed to mimic extensions.

http://www.lorealparisusa.com/mascara/Double_Extend_Beauty_Tubes.htm
I did see that in the store the other day but I had not seen commercials for it. I got the Stiletto by Maybelline because I saw that one on tv.

I always like to try new make-up though, so even though I am very happy with the Stiletto, I'd still buy the Loreal one.

Group A means you're the first group to get seated and you can sit wherever you want. I've only flown Southwest once (to Los Angeles) and it was weird because we had a stop and yet didn't have to get off the plane. And the fact that you could just walk on and sit wherever you wanted weirded me out too .

I'm the biggest mascara whore. I try them all. Right now I like Lash Blast by Cover Girl and Diorshow Iconic. I also have a trial size Prescriptives mascara I like but I'm not sure which one it is.

I just talked to my uncle in Florida, and he is going to see the Yanks v Pirates in Bradenton Saturday. Lucky!!! We'll see him down there on Sunday then may go see a game there on Monday night.

Don't forget to show him your new mascara.

Thanks everyone about Southwest. I am sure we are going to find it odd to just sit wherever we want. I've done it before on EasyJet in Europe and Peoples Express (remember them?)....and did not like it much but I was flying alone.

Oh yeah, I always want to try new makeup...especially mascara! I rotate through about 4 or 5 tubes at any given time. So, now I have Karen's Stiletto on my list and the Loreal. :o

And very funny, Todd. Actually this will probably be an entirely mascara-free weekend! :D And, I accidentally just mis-typed your name as "Tood." I used to work with a guy named Todd whose customer always did that in her E-mails, and he found it funny so we just called him Tood all the time.

nope but it seems to be aptly named - Lashes to die for...that's probably what happens when people see it cost $125. :D

What I don't get is how you apply it...did you see the brush?

I was looking at the brush too. Is it a one time deal and no need for mascara. I am more intrigued than inclined to buy.

I tend use free samples. They work best.:D :D :D

Seriously. Sephora gives you a free sample all the time. I always get the mascara. I think the secret is a small brush and a fresh tube.

The last one I bought was Lacombe and got a free gift pack that had a free one!

Ohhhhh and then there is the trial pack of small mascara tubes. Have you seen that at Sephora. They started that a few years back. I gave it to my daughter for a stocking stuffer or a birthday gift. I got one for myself and have not bought a full tube since.

Get their insider card. Then tell them I would like to try yadda, and yadda. When you buy x amount they give you stuff. They also give you stuff on your birthday.

I am sure I am not special but they treat me like I am. Look for that Lots of lashes or whatever it is with all the mascaras in it. There is like 10 small tubes. You are supose to try them and pick the one you like. I just like the fresh tube. They are all the same to me.

I did find great stuff by tring it. I got a sample of hope in a jar and love it. I got a sample of medimorphosis and love that! So the sample thing does work.

But they will let you try any thing! Skin lines they usually will give you a weeks worth.

Okay, I understood the Yahoo part, but the points only and linear weights proved too much for my limited intellect.;) As you can tell I'm a fantasy idiot.
I had fun last year in a very low-key league--ten teams, lots of kids in the league. It was an automated draft and you could only change your lineup every week. (And there was no money involved. Is that what points only refers to?)
A LOT leaugue might be fun!

Oh, and on the makeup front--I never wear lipstick, but recently tried L'Oreal Infallibles in this cool case where the lip color and gloss are combined into one package. Loved it.

Instead of playing directly against another team (that's head to head or H2H), each baseball event such as a walk or a HR is assigned a value and the winner is the one with the most points at the end. By using linear weights to assign value, you get better scoring in the sense that you're getting points for a player being a good player vs being a good fantasy player. It's actually better and you don't really have to understand the values to be successful.

NO. I complained about it on FB and will try to summarize...we drove to McKechnie Field in Bradenton on Monday hoping to just be able to walk up or buy tix from an "entrepreneur" for the Rays v Pirates game. It was sold out and the scalpers were asking for WAY over face value---like 40, 50 bucks etc. We had decided ahead of time we were only going to pay $20 tops per ticket...we stood around for awhile trying to get the various douchebags to come down in price and they were NOT at all. One was wearing a green B hat and was a total tool, trying to sell $20 tickets for $40...and he even said he would go home before selling for less than $40. Asshat!!!!!!\

Meh. We drove back home and watched DWTS with my MIL. We had two nice beach days though and I did get a little color. :)

Anoop! I will have to read that thread!!!!! I missed AI last night.

My youngest kid used to tease me that one year I would come home with a birthday cake for him from the bakery with a different name on it that I got cheap because it wasn't picked up by someone else.

As a goof, one year I asked the bakery person to write "Happy Bar Mitzvah Irving" on the cake. As the lady was writing it on the cake she said, "you know, this is the smallest bar mitzvah cake I've ever seen". I felt the need to explain it to her after that.

Oh, that makes much more sense, thank you for explaining! I did head to head last year and it was fun, but I think my team would have done better with points and linear weights b/c I suck at figuring out a good fantasy player. In fact last year I built my lineup thinking in straight baseball terms until I realized that it really didn't matter how the lineup was contructed in terms of who batted when. D'oh!
I like the idea of a LOT league--I think I'm going to do a parents and kids league again and get my ass kicked by a bunch of 9 year olds, but I could do another one, too. I think.

Mine does not notice shoes, but occasionally will startle me by noticing a new item of clothing. And he always notices hair cuts, which good on him.
So I always try to get a single ticket to a weekday day game every season just b/c it's such a different experience, and I really like taking in a game by myself every so often. This year the only one I could get was for April 20th, which is a little on the early side but what the hell.
However. I just now figured out that it's the day of the Boston marathon, which goes right through Kenmore square (a block away from the park). Parking and transportation is going to be an unbelievable pain in the ass.
But it's a really good seat. I am torn.

Oh Patriots Day game! I love that game. Nothing like baseball at 11 in the morning with a flyover. And then you can watch the crazy runners after the game is over.

But yeah, driving anywhere in or around Boston that day is a nightmare. The T won't be any worse than usual though. I mean, it'll be mobbed with game people but that's how it always goes.

I love "The Building"........it's really amazing sometimes.

If anyone has an Ocean State Job Lots nearby they have "Fresh Produce" and "ExtraFresh Produce" summer stuff. Very reasonable, and lots of cute stuff for summer. Adult sizes only. That stuff is great.

Oh Patriots Day game! I love that game. Nothing like baseball at 11 in the morning with a flyover. And then you can watch the crazy runners after the game is over.

This reminds me of a few years ago when I went to California with a friend to go to a couple of baseball games. It was at the beginning of September so there were football games going on then too. I'll never forget going to a bar at 10 AM to watch football. It was so weird. People were order waffles or eggs and beer! I never really thought about the West Coast people when I was in a bar on football Sunday at 1PM watching the games! It was a neat experience. Of course, I was bombed by noon. Pretty crazy.

I am torn.

Parking actually won't be too bad, believe it or not, if you get there early enough.

I've been to that game a few times. Weather usually sucks, though.:(

It took me hours to get out of that godforsaken city when I ran the Boston marathon. :argh: That day is a total pain in the ass.

That sounds like a blast. Breakfast food is my favorite and I would LOVE having it a bar, watching football, in the morning! :gulp:

I think I'd like watching baseball in the morning even more. And an entire menu of stadium food modified for breakfast. Hot dogs in a blanket, peanut pancakes, a bowl of cracker jacks with milk.

I have to admit it was pretty cool. Waffles and beer seems pretty gross though.

I had an egg sandwich and beer and it was perfect! That was actually one of the best days that I had in California!

Hi Ladies. I was reading the "turning 30" and it got me to thinking what I would have done differently if I could go back in time. I'm not sure that I would change much as I'm old enough to now realize that my mistakes have helped make me who I am but one thing I wished I could definitely change is the fact that I would have started moisturizing my skin early than what I did. I've drilled that into my daughter that even though she's 18 she has use moisturizer.
What would you change?

That is what we cook for our Giants tailgating parties for 1pm games!

Have you ever had breakfast pizza? It may sound gross but it is the most awesome stuff on the planet.

Not that I'm a lady - however I was the Queen of Sheba in a previous life, yet, I digress - but personally I'd quit sweating the small stuff. All of the daily problems, whether they're at work or at home, really seem pointless when I put them in the big picture. Life is so damned short. It was meant to be enjoyed! Not to be stressed or depressed or filled with grief. Sure, some of those things are unavoidable, they're tossed upon us, and all apart of the "big picture", but I just personally wish I didn't waste so much precious time worrying about them all. If there's anything I've learned in my 42 years, it's that life has a way of making things work themselves out by itself. Doesn't mean I stop caring or just sit back on my big arse and do nothing, but that one way or another, everything works itself out. Might not be the way I like it, but it does come to a resolution.

Oh, yum. I had breakfast lasagna @ Disney World. It was sort of like bread pudding, I guess.

Perfectly said Todd and when I see people going crazy over stuff (I'm thinking of someone at work) when I know a 49 year old (with 4 kids) that died yesterday....well, all that little crap just doesn't compare to a life tragedy like that.

That is good advice. I wish I did not lay on my parents' back porch using baby oil as sunscreen as a teen. :D

I have some major things I sometimes think I would change but like you said:
I'm old enough to now realize that my mistakes have helped make me who I am

Well said. It's all about the attitude. People chose every morning what kind of a day they will have and let's face it there are lots of people who are just plain miserable.
Count your blessings, people. We can all find SOMETHING to give thanks for (even if it's Hershey's Kisses...just ate a half a bag of the ones filled with coconut creme)

Vickie, so very sorry to hear about your friend. My daughter's boyfriend's mother was just put in a hospice care center ... 48 years old, mother of 3 beautiful boys...and special woman who is leaving the earth way too soon. I spoke to him over the phone and my heart breaks for him. He was crying that his mom will never get to hold her grandchildren....what the heck do you say to that?
