You mean the team has lost its offense since 2004.

Have you seen any pitching anywhere in there? I sure havent.

Color me crazy, but the Tigers are taxing their most reliable and important relievers in a 6-0 game. They will now have pitched back to back nights and will be needed for a quick turnaround tomorrow if they are close.

I seem to remember boasting to friends of mine after game 4 of 2004 ALCS that there was no way the red sox bullpen could last them for 3 more games...boy was I wrong then...

The Yankees have won two games in a row before, they can do it again.

the key thing to remember. We just need the middle of the order to wake up before 4pm tomorrow

Thanks for reminding me that this is NOTHING. Even if we are eliminated tomorrow. It's nothing. We'll pick up the pieces and get better pitching for next year.

It could be worse ... like 2004!

But I expect the Yankees to at least take this series to five games!
its not nothing. the yanks have the best team since the dynasty this year and its the weakest competition. to me its almost as bad.

This team is a complete joke

You're a complete joke of a fan, the Yankees were the best team in baseball in 2006, but it doesn't mean they will win the WS, or even get out of the ALDS.

Ball Game Over.Tigers win. 2 Games to 1 Lead over the Yankees in the ALDS.

The offense gets the "blame" tonight on the Yankees. Randy fought through it and pitched surprisingly well in my opinion, but the offense just did not click at all tonight. I mean, they got guys on base every inning except the 9th, but they just couldn't move them along. And it doesn't help that Kenny Rogers had the game of his life. (You have to give him props though. He had a great game.) His curve ball was on point throughout the whole night.

Hopefully Joe, or even Jeter (who is known to do something like this) gets this team PUMPED in the lockeroom as I type this.

We can only hope this offense anialates Bonderman tommrow, and hopefully Jaret pitches great.

And I love how some people felt the game was over in the 5th inning. Sure, the Yankee lost, but you never say the game is over in the middle of it. This is baseball, anything can happen. I would have loved to see those people's posts if the Yankees wound up winning.

Go Yankees.

I just want to say that I have never been so embarrased by our boys. I can't believe what just happend. I'm in disbelief. However, I do know that Wright is going to pitch the game of his life tomorrow. I know Jeter, A-Rod, Matsui, BA, and everyone else is going to get yelled at tomorrow. How can we lose to the wildcard team?

I'm in disbelief........ :(

Sorry to post again so quickly, but why is the first highlight they show the one of Arod grounding out?'Cause it WAS the first significant thing that happened. They had a man in scoring position with one out, and stranded him. So it would go, inning after inning. I don't blame A-Rod more than lots of others, though.

0 for 18 with runners on base tonight!

yanks simply got unlucky tonight. these games happen.

They seem to happen an awful lot in October around here the last few years.

You think any reporter will have enough cajones to ask Rogers in the post-game press conference, "Kenny...you were never man enough to pitch a big game like this when you played in New York...what has changed since then?".

Throughtout the 2006 season, the Yankees had a handful of losses where they hit rock bottom (the loss against Baltimore before Boston Massacre II comes to mind).

Everytime the team bounced back and went on winning streaks.

Who would have thought Kenny Rogers was going to pitch the way he did.

I really hope a player steps up in the lockeroom tonight and gets the team pumped. I think it'd make more of an impact coming from a fellow teammate then it maybe coming from Torre.

For what it’s worth, for a guy with a herniated disc – and having one myself – I think Johnson pitched his ass off out there tonight. He got ZERO run support from a lineup that seems to have had it’s balloon completely deflated by Mussina’s inability to hold a lead in Game 2 (“Gee, I guess we DO have to score eight runs in every game in order to win”).

Right now I have this image in my head of George in his living room like Belushi in Animal House - screaming, "Mussina? DEAD! A-rod? DEAD!"...

The line up needs a spark, bench Bernie, DH Melky. Cabrera doesnt have a ton of at bats against Bonderman but he is 3 for 6...bernie 2 for 12. Sheff is a career 167 against him so I dont want to see him in the line up either.
