View Full Version : "Lost" Season 3 Thread

The premeire of the third season of Lost is fast approaching. October 4th to be exact (hopefully it won't conflict with the Yankees playoff schedule).
And as we draw closer to the new season rumors and leaks will begin to appear, like the Hanso video that Sam posted in the old Lost thread. So instead of posting that stuff in the old thread I decided to create a new thread.
Season 2 has been released on DVD. I don't have it, but apparently there are some very interesting nuggets in the special features. Has anyone purchased it yet? If so, let us know what you thought.
What are everyones expectations for the new season? What might you be disappointed about? And the real question is will Tifoso watch this season?
Also I am posting a link to the TheFuselage message board, which I enjoy reading for analysis and that sort of thing. Please link other Lost message boards that you like I would be curious to check them out.
http://www.thefuselage.com/
And here is think link for the Lost website on ABC.com:
http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/index.html
Here's to a new season of Lost. The best show on TV. :gulp:
What might you be disappointed about? And the real question is will Tifoso watch this season?
I hope not, I don't wanna hear him say after every episode how he's gonna stop watching and then coming back the next week and repeat the same thing.

It's deep man. Deep.
It is rapidly becoming self-parody.
The "coincidences" are beyond ridiculous. They can only be explained by
1. The fact that they are all dead, and are where normal reality does not exist or
2. A paranormal angle---which is still pure BS--no computer, no brain could arrange them all or, as I am sadly beginning to believe
3. The writing is carp
I will watch...until the point that they announce another season, at which point, I will never watch again.

My wife and I are deep into our "Lost" weekend, watching the entire Second Season that she rented from the local video store. I don't know which is best - being able to watching one episode right after another or the complete absence of commercials. We're both catching stuff we missed the first go around. We haven't made it to the Special Features disc yet but I'll let you know if there's anything tasty served up on it.
As for the Season Premiere being shown on Oct. 4th and the possibility of it coinciding with a Yankee Playoff game, we'll probably tape it. We did that all last season anyway only because we can't stand watching the show with the commercial breaks. It's like it will be a big scene, loud building music, and then you're looking at the Geico gecko. We really need TiVO or something.
I will watch...until the point that they announce another season, at which point, I will never watch again.
I watched every single episode of the X-Files, even though, for the last two or three seasons I had absolutely no idea what was going on. So, I'm sure I'll keep watching LOST, even when it goes over the edge.
I'm just dumb that way...

Just some things.
On ABC's website, you can watch last seasons finale, as well as the recap that aired last week. Also, they will put up the premire on Thursday, if you can't tape/tivo it during the Yanks game.
They also have a 90 second scene with Jack from the premier, a short "trailer" for the show, and a cool little thing with Not Henry. Also, a music video with Brian McFadden.

Watch an episode last year on this, because I think Lost conflicted with Yanks-Sox game. They make you watch three 30 second commercials.

It was really cool when they panned out and you were able to see how close they were to the crash. It was a little pre-fabricated society that was obviously put there for a purpose.
And I also liked that they concentrated on the 3 characters and their plight tonight. Next week we see what is going on back at camp. Looks like a rescue attempt is in the plans.

She and Jack will hook up. I do think she is good and that she will work with Jack.
She seems to hate Ben given her sarcastic comment at the end so she has a brain. He locked her in with Jack when the flood started so there is no love lost there. I am not sure if she is in this voluntarily or if she was coerced into all this.

certainly not all of them - but it is a somewhat common bond between many of them.

The writers had the first 5 seasons outlined before the show aired it's first episode. Now of course they've had to change some things (walt barely appeared in season 2 because of a growth spurt, Ana Lucia and Libby were killed becuase of their run in with the law) but they pretty much already know how the show is going to end.

Well, it does seem as if Desmond was maybe reborn in a way.
Although, I gotta admit, I'm kinda getting tired of them jerking the "set" chains
1. Paranormal--Locke, the peyote ritual, etc
2. Desmond as the "resurrection" theme, complete with beard, long hair, future seeing ability, and one piece "seamless garment" (in mid 70's hippy, obviously)
Again, I have to admit I liked the episode...

I liked last night's episode. It was cool to see Boone again and it was interesting to hear his comments about the other survivors in the airport (charlie and Claire are fine - for now, Sayid is helping himself, etc...)

Remember when the losties found him in the boat drunk? He kept saying some mumbo jumbo about doing this over and over again, yet never resulting in anything. Sailing for days yet still being right near the island.
I don't think his statement about Locke's speech was clarvoyance, rather a 'groundhog day' type of situation. Like he'd been here already.... :-ponder-:

I think they are taking a huge risk doing this....waiting 3 months in between shows. They better end with a serious bang on episode 6 to get viewers to come back in February.
I just wish they would do what 24 does and start in January and run all the way through. It would be much better.
But, at least TPTB are listening to viewers who complained about too many gaps in between shows. This way, this give you one giant gap....but the 16 straight shows starting in February will be nice.

Well last season was pretty bad too. They would show one, then take two weeks off, show two, then three off, then two straight episodes followed by two weeks off.
This way I won't be liking from November-February, but come February it will be awesome. I just hope we get some answers to something before the hiatus.

Whats amazing is the writers had the whole series maped out before the first episode even aired!- This is directly from JJ Abrams mouth when he spoke at this animation festival I went to 2 summers ago.
Im still waiting for them to explain the phone call Penelope got at the end of last seasons Finale.
Did anyone else love the pulp fiction reference in the last episode?
I was loving the Pulp Fiction reference with the needle. Good stuff.
OH MY GOD! Best episode of the season by far! Did not see the Eko death coming AT ALL. Now I really wanna know what the smoke monster is.

I completely agree with everything you just said (shocking, I know).
Am I to believe that the smoke monster can take on human form? WTF did Ecko's brother actually go?
The scene with Juliette and the tape made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Incredible.

That reminded me so much of 1984. This better not be a plot by Ben to make Jack like Juliet more.

It's too bad that a death had been heavily rumored all over the place and that it seemed like it was going to be Ecko all throughout the episode. I think it would have been much better if it had been a complete shock to me, but it was an awesome episode. I can't wait until next week, and then we need to wait several months.

I want to trust her so badly. Lord it scared me though. There wasn't even anything scary about the scene, but I must have looked like a deer in headlights through the whole thing.

It was an excellent scene. It wouldn't make much sense if it was some kind of ploy, though, because how would they know that Jack won't listen and kill him, and how would they tell him not to before hand without ruining whatever plan they had?

Same here. That scene was really just cool.

That's why normal people don't read the spoilers and articles about the show.

I don't read any spoilers, though I can't say I wouldn't if I knew where to get them . It was in the newspaper and I saw something about it on TV.

Though I suppose that they could have Juliette keep pushing Jack for an answer before the surgery. That way if he says okay they know they can't trust him, but if he says he won't purposefully kill him they'll know that he will try to save him.

Could be Julliette's own power play.
Could be Julliette's own power play.
To become the leader? But then Jack would tell them that Juliet made him do it. But then I suppose they wouldn't believe him.

I also thought that the smoke monster was perhaps taking on the form of those characters who were originally thought to be hallucinations. In the first season, wasn't the coffin that held Jack's dad empty as well? Maybe the smoke monster needs a body in order to take its shape? Perhaps that's why the others burned that woman's body for the funeral?... so many questions... it'll be interesting to finally find out (if we ever find out) what the smoke monster's all about.
