Really? I was wondering if there was a story about it. Mattingly doesn't have his stache anymore does he?

No that is why I think it's kind of bizare. But he seems to have a five oclock shadow going as of today....but who doesn't after this stretch of baseball.

Funny, I thought we split that series.

I know we did (and believe me, I was relieved), but if the Yanks need rest, I'd rather they rest against an opponent that has (in recent times) done well against them (especially at their ballpark). Believe me, I'd love to put a 40 spot up on the Cherry Heads as well (especially Shields and Lackey), but these guys are going to be exhausted on the West Coast trip. I'm just glad there's no Oakland in there (although a beatdown of Zito might be fun for good measure).

I'm figuring you mean, sweeping the first three...?

Regardless, I was even more negative. I figured that with BOS' home field, our awful series against BAL and having no off-day, them having last ups, etc., I'd be comfortable even with going 2-3 over the 5. That would keep us in first place.

To win Wang's game was critical, that was the "must win" for me because of the pitching match-up. To take last night, with Ponson starting, was a shock. To put this up today, really shows me something great about this team. We've shown that the thing everyone criticized about us, esp. BOS fans, was even more of a weakness for BOS - their pitching, especially relief.

Now it's just a challenge not to get greedy for the next two...
