Beam has to give up a couple of runs first. And that's not beyond the realm of possibility.

Guys, I've got a question. When is Joe going to give Jeter, Cano, and Melky rest? Granted that Cano and Melky are younger, Melky has played without stop for months, and Cano is only a few weeks coming off an injury.

Who is this guy pitching? I really don't know. :o
I am no expert, but it seems to me that Beam does not have a compact, consistent motion. Did he have control problems in the minors?
 YOU are silly.
Why, thank you. :D

Bigger pet peeve is when it's a close game, but I know what you mean. Beam went 3-1 on his first two hitters with an 8 run lead. That ain't gonna keep him up in the big leagues very long.

Cano got a game off in the Angels series, he's only been back for what, two weeks? everyone who needs it will get rest in September (hopefully) if we've got a cushion, winning these games is huge for that.

By the way, you probably don't want a repeat of 1978. After the Boston Massacre, the Yanks blew their lead in the division. That led to the famous playoff game. Obviously Bucky Dent made sure it ended well, but they did blow their September lead.

Now them, I want to lose... stupid walkoff against my hometown team little league team :(
Wish Granted -- But, the SI Catcher was ready to rumble after the game w/the kid they IBB'd in that last inning.
With this win, the Yankees also go to 25 games over .500 for the first time this year! :)

That was a different scenario, as the Yanks made up 14 games in the standings.
Now it's time for the Yanks to create some separation in the standings and put Boston away for good.
I wish that Theo would trade Josh to the Angels so that we could see him again next weekend.

 Lisa Evers @ Randall's Island reporting on a new system of IDing people at clubs/concerts. All of a sudden you see a hand appear from off camera trying to shove a dollar bill between her boobs. She swipes it away at first, tries to keep her cool and stick to her script, the guy persists and ends up getting it in there. She's clearly rattled and says to the guy "okay, thank you...as you can see everyone here is having a good time".

In 2001 if Mo doesn't blow the lead in the 7th game Soriano is the hero while Schilling is the goat. In my opinion Randy Johnson really hurt the Yanks. Schilling left that game on the losing end. In the playoffs in 2004 the Yanks went 1-1 against him. He's not the Yankee killer most perceive him to be.
The next two games mean near zero to us, and absolutely everything to the Sox. It doesn't get any better than that. :)

No reason why NY shouldn't go for the sweep. It would be sweet to see Schilling get tattooed on National TV tonight and then let the Yankees feed Wells his lunch tomorrow afternoon. A 6.5 game lead has a nice ring to it. So let's take it a game at a time but make sure to take both. Sometimes greed is a good thing.
