Well then. I just got here after being at a soccer game. I am happy the game is still going on but upset at the score. Sterling said Damon has been playing great tonight. Can someone tell me what he did? In addition to looking at PA programs I am viewing satalite (sp) and cable features to figure out which to get when I move to my new place.

So what the offense had a poor inning, they have scored 7 runs in 6 innings.
You just cant keep scoring automatically, if your pitching chokes up lead after lead after lead, eventually you wont be able to get it back.

I have to be at work tomorrow at 5:30 AM. Do you think there's a chance the game's over by then? Slim chance. I'm expecting 60 walks from tired arms the rest of the way. Why don't you go to sleep now and catch the end of the game just before you leave for work?

Based on the last month's worth of performances, Beckett is much more likely to be awful tomorrow.
I have some confidence that Bruney can be that middle/long guy. Someone to come into a 5th inning and pitch 2, or the guy you bring in with a five run lead or four run deficit. They don't have that man, and Villone's been playing the role along with his normal one. Could be helpful

As much as I hate to say this, there are times when I won't post something or even stay in the thread during bad losses because folks get so sensitive.
If real life was like that I woulda been kicked out of about (roughly) 200 Yankee Games! :D

Dotel has shown nothing to indicate he will have a clean inning because he just came back to MLB. Putting him the game tomorrow is high stakes poker if the lead isnt more than 3 runs.

Sure he hasn't shown much, but what other choices do we have, Really? Say Johnson goes 5. Villone is spent for a couple of days, though with Torre, you never know. Proctor Farnsworth and Rivera should be available. But you really don't want to use any of those guys more than one inning, especially Proctor.

Ugh, Torre. Be kind to Myers and his stats. Its bad enough he has to face Ortiz twice in one day. Why make him pitch to a good righty as well. I fear Myers is our last hope. If he cant get Loretta and Ortiz reaches as well, he'll probably stay on to pitch a while.

not even close. most boring game possibly, but this isnt such a bad game. i think in the history about double headers, only about 15% of them have been a sweep by one team. its tough to expect to win both at fenway. our offense showed up for both games, neither teams pitching showed up, we still have 9 outs to score runs off vulnerable pitchers, and should that occur we still have farns and mo to go to.

One of my friends does a hysterical impression of Phil Rizzuto doing a game - and suddenly swearing every other word because the game is out of hand (never when kids are around)! I do the Bill White voice trying to calm him down...we had these guys in front of us at a terrible game thank us at the end of it for preventing them from throwing themselves off the upper deck...

Oh yea. That was long now wasnt it. As if the people at Fenway didnt need anymore beer after the first 4 hours of fun. Then, they get 3 hours to drink some more and come back and and deal with 4 and 1/2 more hours of this tonight.
If your going to a bar in Boston tonight, it should be as easy to pick up a woman as it would be to hit Sidney Ponson's fastball.

I looked it up ... Menechino has a career ERA of 27.00, with a total of 1 and 1/3 innings pitched in two games ... 8 hits and 4 ER.
Maybe we shoulda given him the start over Ponson! ;)

I saw a bad porno movie about 20 years ago, where the lead "star"'s nickname was "Big Poppy" (let's just say he got called that A LOT). That's why I crack up whenever I hear that.

I do have to say this, because I've been thinking it for a few years now.
The Red Sox have the best looking female fans in the league. Thats not to take anything away from our female Yankee base. But in my time at Fenway, I've been amazed by the large amount of hot women at those games. 2nd place of course is the Yankees. But coming in right behind are the female Dodgers fans. There's some talented prospects over there too.
