Ponson? I have to imagine he gets his walking papers after tonight. Yanks pen will be totally cooked, and no use carrying dead weight in Ponson. He's terrible and won't be available for several days- double whammy. Call up Karstens to be the long guy if needed.

And this umpire is as bad as it's been this year. Both teams getting wildly inconsistent calls. But MLB is totally clueless to umpires- a major embarrassment for the league to pay no attention to scheduling other than cost saving measures by keeping them close to home.

Whats the highest scoring game this season?

Probably that game vs Texas where we were down 9-1 and came back and won I think 12-11 or 13-12 on the Posada walkoff.

The fact of the matter is that it is a very difficult job. Competition is very fierce with so many aspiring umpires and the slow turnover rate, with guys doing it into their 60s. You know all those minor league umpires? They have goals too, so for one to get to the majors means two things, they are very good and they god lucky.

one question, why is that even though we have 4 reliable relievers this year, the pen is still overworked ?? if we had a 4th guy the past 2 years we wouldve been in good shape right ?? did our starters go deeper last year but pitched worse and this year theyre pitching better but not as deep ?? bad pen management by torre ?? i mean thats a given but i thought even torre couldnt overwork 4 bullpen guys.

It's definitely a factor. We can get 3 innings from Farnsworth + Mo. We need to squeeze a couple more innings out of the pen before the 7th. If we can put up some runs, Joe can throw Bruney out there.
