If someone was reading this thread without following the game, they'd think Alex had made all 18 outs while everyone else has gone 3-3 on the day.
Between the Game Thread and the A-Rod thread you`d think we`re out of the play-offs.

Look..all I'm saying is that he is yet to pitch well against a Contender. Period.
His last 2 starts were huge and he failed. He HAS to pitch well @ Fenway, next week.
he doesnt have to do anything...he's already better than most of boston's staff.
i think he will bounce back.

Alex needs a few days off. Whatever excuse people make for him he is struggling on both sides of the ball and needs to focus on only one maybe. Let him DH tommorrow or something. He isnt the reason we are losing by 4 runs but 2 K's and a GIDP after a couple misplays is the worst among our players today.

i think he will bounce back.
ok then..he doesnt have to pitch well in the biggest series of the season.
I don't think we could get a fair enough deal for him to make it worthwhile. There's a better chance that he'll return to his MVP form at any given moment than of us acquiring a frontline starter or 5-tool player, which is what we should acquire at the very least for a player of A-Rod's quality in his prime, salary nonwithstanding.
Here's my problem.....I don't think the Yanks necessarily need Alex to GET to October. Pitching is more important for this club, which has enough offense with everyone healthy to get there. Assuming they got a relatively decent 3B to replace (either in a trade or sign), I wouldn't mind him going for $.75 or $.80 on the dollar.
Because....no matter what his numbers, I simply don't want a ball hit to him in October big spot, or him up in an at bat instead of someone else who would be batting in the middle of the order.
If they NEED a base hit in the 9th, is there anyone who would rather Alex over someone like Cano? That;s not good.

He's a failure?? Wow. I'd love to fail like he has.
I wouldn't say he's a failure, but he's certainly not a $25.2m player right now. He's called one of the best players overall because of his sterling defense, great baserunning and awesome bat. Who gets 50 jacks from a SS?
Now his defense isn't very good, his bat doesn't get him on base and his running is moot, as he doesn't get on base often.
Strangely, espn has him batting .391 and a 1.200+ OPS in the last 7 days.

Yes.. in a heartbeat. They could have paid someone a lot less money to play this "well".. His defense has killed this team this year. It always seems that his non plays or errors lead to big innings. We can "what if" to death but if you watched the games you see the problems a slumping ARod has caused. Even if he hits 300 and gets 40HRs, his defense kills the team. At least Ortiz doesn't kill his team with errors because he's a DH..

This is true and if this was the only terrible day A-Rod has had recently he would be given a mulligan. But given his propensity to just have absolutely horrendous all-around games at the most inopportune times, it's become quite frustrating. Fair or not, Alex has to be held to a higher standard than guys such as Cano, Cabrera, even Posada and Damon.
Same here. He makes almost 50% more than Giambi, fer Christ sakes!!!
It's like we have this discussion daily because ... well, how often has Alex had bad days recently? People can put their blinders on all they want, but he's been i a long-term funk, so no use ignoring the blatantly obvious. To me, that's why people complain abou thim.

Even if they do fade the fact is that they were both contending when Wang pitched against them. They both have better records than the Angels. What they do from here on out does not change the fact that Wang pitched well against them when they were contending teams. I still don't get it.
Records dont always tell the whole truth..
Example: 1st half of 2005 Orioles

It's more that he's winning games with the glove as well. huge catch Friday night, won two games for them last year with spectacular plays in the field- one in CF, one at 3B.
