Come on Yankee bats, make effective adjustments on the fly for base hits.

I was waiting for this "Wang wont have any success because he is not a strikeout pitcher" bull.................

Even strikeout pitchers have bad innings, Wang has been great for the entire year and his ERA shows it.
Yeah but Klu he was due to regress to the median in terms of his BABIP. It's not that he won't have any success without strikeouts but bad outings like this are going to be magnified when his sinker isn't working because he doesn't have an out pitch and he has little control over balls in play.

CptCrunch
08-13-06, 12:33 PM
I fully realize that, despite what uber Sabremetric geeks want to profess, the pitches cannot be that easily be catagorized and Wang's sinker is definitely special. I'm also handicapped by the fact that I'm listening to Sterling so don't have a clue what Wang looks like today....

Weaver is extremely deliberate
Sterling just said the exact opposite...

gold23
08-13-06, 12:33 PM
Then what the hell am I talking about?:D

I tend to agree with you about the rest thing. In this stretch, I never liked the idea of moving around the rotation. Why not allow your guys to all get the extra day, instead of continuing to work the key starters hard and messing with the comfort level of the back end guys.

A decent comparison might be Erickson before he got hurt. He was anywhere from a good to excellent pitcher. I think Wang is going to be anywhere from an excellent 3 to a darn good 2.

Good stuff and unorthodox delivery is going to get him a lot of early outs. More pitches they see, better looks they'll have in a few innings. I really don't think the Yanks are going to struggle to put up a few today. Could be wrong, but this just FEELS like a 7-5 type of game.

I'm so sick and tired of us playing like crap against the Angels, watching their scrubs kill us, seeing them catch every god damn break against us. Just look at that 1st inning...how many hard hit balls?? 1 or 2?? And they get 3 freaking runs.

He is the second worst in MLB with a runner on third and less than 2 out (less than 40% of the runner score). His numbers close and late suck. He is a very talented hitter, but he gets in his own way. And I do think that was a pressure spot in the first inning in light of the 3-run deficit.

He is the second worst in MLB with a runner on third and less than 2 out (less than 40% of the runner score). His numbers close and late suck. He is a very talented hitter, but he gets in his own way. And I do think that was a pressure spot in the first inning in light of the 3-run deficit.
And I can counter by saying his RISP/2 out numbers are the best on the team. Again I don't see somehow who has a 900 OPS or thereabouts is a problem on offense, and contrary to popular belief he does get big hits.
