The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network is up and running on DirecTV, and it appears that there's a good chance it'll be on basic cable by the start of next season. Right now, I know that (obviously in addition to Orioles and Nationals games), the channel is scheduled to show classic Orioles games and Ravens preseason games.

I'd imagine that can only take you so far. Having only seen YES during Yankee games, I'm wondering what it does to take up all the rest of the time it has to fill. It's 24-hours like MASN will be, right? I know there are Yankeeographies, but I'd imagine that the time is especially hard to fill during the offseason. Do they ever show Knicks/Nets/Rangers/Devils/Islanders games? Any college games? Or is it just ESPNClassic for Yankees only?

I'm just wondering what to expect from the new channel. Thanks.

I'm not sure when the Devils are scheduled (or if as they were divested of the Yankees a couple of years ago, IIRC the Nets were worried Lamarillo would do to Jason Kidd what he does to the Devils stars) to be on, but as of now the only hockey on is college.

I'm not sure when the Devils are scheduled (or if as they were divested of the Yankees a couple of years ago, IIRC the Nets were worried Lamarillo would do to Jason Kidd what he does to the Devils stars) to be on, but as of now the only hockey on is college. You're correct about the Devils. When the entity known as YankeeNets was dissolved, the Nets and Devils, who were under the same ownership umbrella as the Yankees at the time, were sold off. In the aftermath, the Nets remained on YES, but the Devils games were picked up by Cablevision. They now air on FSN primarily, since MSG has the Rangers and Knicks.

As far as the original question, YES has paid programming (infomercials) from 2 AM to 6 AM. Possibly MASN will follow the SNY model, which aims to be less Mets-centric and has more live programming like SportsNite (a mini version of SportsCenter) and "The Daily News Live." Like the other poster above provided for YES, here's a link to SNY's broadcast content.

They also have a bunch of magazine type shows not listed here. I know during NCAA basketball season, they have weekly shows for Seton Hall, Villanova and Penn State.

Perhaps they will begin running a new series about classic Washington players entitled Senatorials.
